CTD Metric Magnum Super Premium 3mm Drill Bit (2 Pack)

I bought two three-millimeter drill bits, and a couple of weeks later, both are broken. I used them to drill aluminum, using very rigid tool holding, and these bits are not good at evacuating chips. Thus, they jam in the hole, and break.I have better luck with regular uncoated high speed steel bits, which are less brittle than these bits.For stainless steel drilling, I wouldn't use these, either; I'd use real M42 8% cobalt drill bits, which are slightly more expensive, but not that much worse if you get them from a good supplier (not the big box stores.)In short, I think these bits fill a niche that doesn't actually exist :-)

These drills work a lot better than el-chepo import drills - 3mm drills are sharp and when used with a drill press with minimal slop they will last a long time - In a few days I have made several hundred 3mm holes in T6 aluminum and my first drill still shows no wear - I also use a bit of oil to cool the stock and clear the chips. Came faster than expected would recommend..

the title had me worried a bit on these "Magnum super premium" just makes it sound like they are trying to hard, but these are pretty high quality bits. i received them a few days after ordering them and used one to drill a brass bolt out (kinda like a banjo bolt) and it did just fine with a little pressure in a hand drill i was getting some nice long curls off of it indicative of a sharp bit.

They drilled beautifully. They were 3 mm. Which was important to me.

Great price considering how much better than cheapo import bits they are. These CTD split point bits make light work of mild steel and keep their edge longer than generic alternatives. Arrived well ahead of schedule.

Works nice and sharp, straight as well

First off, I bought these for hobby purposes, I can't speak about any professional usage. They're long for use in a pin vice/hobby drill, but they'll work. They remove the gamesworkshop plastics from models fine, and matched up exactly to the diameter of the magnets I'm using. The length is the one thing I dislike, as it makes them awkward to use for my purpose.
