Is this safe for longterm storage of photos. Acid free?

This listing says the sleeves are PVC. PVS material is known to degrade photos over time and can turn them yellow. You can look up more info online about it for the details. If these pockets are PVC, as the listing says, I wouldn't want to put my photos or anything I wanted to store for a long time in them.

Can you add sleeves into the book?

From the construction, I think that it would be impossible to add pages. The bindind is designed to hold the pages supplied. Over stuffing would break the binding. You can do what I did. These are reasonably priced, so I bought another album.

Could I remove the paper that separates the picture from the one behind it? I want to see the front and back of the photos.

Not really. It is not paper but a thin plastic material. If you have something written on the back of the picture I think that you could poke a hole and do a small opening in the area of the writing.
