How far into the ground do the stakes need to be driven so that the are stable?

Hi It depend on the soil type (soft/ light or harder soil) that how far wood stakes need to be driven. It is advisible to use a longer stake for sandier, lighter soils. For example, if your soil is lighter and you want to achieve 1.2m height for support then we advise to use 1.35m stake so that you achieve 1.2m height after driving the stake into soil. As a general rule drive down the tree stakes until you feel the stability of the garden stake

How far into the ground do they need to be driven? I need 70cm of height so need this information. The ground is firm soil.

These are 90cm in total length - So you would need to insert 20cm into the ground to be left with 70cm. 90 - 70 = 20cm
