Thinking Skills - (Cambridge University Press) by John Butterworth, Geoff Thwaites (2005) Paperback

I bought this in prep for my TSA Oxford exam. It was very useful, especially for the critical thinking part, plenty of practice questions with full explanations of how to work out the answer. I'd really recommend it.

I used this book for preparation for IMAT (international medical admission test for Universities in Italy) since there are still no official books for IMAT preparation, but big part (about 50%) of the exam is reasoning. As for every exam, although there are no official books, you can prepare for what you are gonna get, and this books provides material that is very similar (read: same principle) to BMAT/IMAT reasoning part... I give it 4/5 since it is not so concise and still demands decent amount of time to go through... But still I highly recommend it especially for someone who did not encounter similar tasks in his/her high school...

This book is definitely useful preparation for the TSA tests: with chapters on the different "skills" necessary to do well in the test, good exercises, summaries of key terms, and answers in the back this book is easily accesible and practical.

Bought this textbook as recommended reading for the Cambridge TSA, while I haven't taken the test yet, it has been very helpful in understanding the processes behind thinking, and how to get to answers. Would recommend this to anyone also taking the TSA.

A must-read for everyone interested in critical thinking, problem-solving and TSA. It is plenty of nice and non-trivial examples and the explanations are mostly complete and detailed.

I ordered this book a few weeks before I was about to take the TSA (Thinking Skills Assessment (Oxford Entrance Exam)). It was quite useful. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking to improve their score on the TSA. While I do not have my 2012 TSA scores yet, this book helped me go from around a 60 to around a 70-80 on the practice exams, so there was a significant improvement. The downside? Well, there was a lot of redundant information, but this is coming from someone who already had a background in formal thinking. Another downside is that the first sample question in this book is kind of racist, but not outwardly. Overall, I think it's a fantastic buy for anyone looking to improve their scores on the TSA or just gain a foundation on formal thinking / logic and problem solving.

This book is really useful for those who are taking or planning to take A level or AS level Thinking Skills. I allowed me to study on my own to understand what the difference is between premise, claims, etc. Therefore, anyone that is going to or alreadying taking this course, and is having a difficult time; this is the book for you.
