Well constructed, retains the heat, and easy to clean
I am immensely impressed at the quality and performance of this French press.I needed a coffee maker that I could use to make several cups in the morning, where I could get a cup immediately and have another available in 10-20 minutes for my wife. I've used an Aeropress for years, and considered the Aeropress XL, but it's ridiculously priced for a few pieces of plastic and it's really designed for 2 cups brewed and consumed at the same time. When you open the box and pull this press out, you're immediately impressed by the weight and build quality. This isn't a thin glass vessel in a plastic carrier. The stainless steel, double walled construction has some heft. They even included an extra mesh filter, a nice touch.I was disappointed by Amazon's shipping. They sent it only in the manufacturer's box, which wasn't meant for shipping and the filter carrier was damaged by some impact. A few minutes with some hand tools and the anvil put it mostly back to true. It's not perfect, but it's not the manufacturer's fault. To see how this would perform, I ran an experiment:Started with coffee ground medium with a Cuisinart bur grinder.I used an additional paper filter, a few bucks for 100 on Amazon.Water boiled to 200 degrees fahrenheitFrench press at room temp, 60 degrees fahrenheit2 scoops coffee, 4 cups waterCeramic mug at room temperature, 71 degrees fahrenheitBrewed for 3 minutes, used slow press for extraction.Coffee at 160 degrees fahrenheit in cup.No groundsOutside of french press slightly warm to the touchThen I gave it 10 minutes, undisturbed to see what my wife's cup was going to be like.2nd ceramic mug at room temp, 71 degrees fahrenheitThe coffee was 153 degrees in cup, still no grounds.By comparison, the first mug of coffee is at 120 degrees fahrenheitThe double walled construction did a great job of retaining heat. I will need to use 5 cups of water next time. It was also very easy to clean.I would recommend this press to anyone looking to make a consistently tasty cup of coffee for more than one. It's durable construction and easy to clean stainless steel is a huge plus. I give it 5 stars!(I give Amazon's shipping 2 stars. Get it together Amazon!)

Great French press coffee maker
Makes an excellent French press coffee and keeps it warm for quite a bit. Easy to use, great build quality. My only knock on it is it becomes hard to read the labels inside with certain lighting conditions, but it’s not at all a dealbreaker. Great purchase, has held up well for months and I would buy it again.

Excellent French Press 17 MONTH UPDATE BELOW
What can I say, this Press is perfect; I wish I would have found this years ago.All Stainless Steel. NO PLASTIC PARTS!Makes two large mugs of excellent tasting coffee in 4 minutes and keeps the coffee more than just warm for at least an hour. It's so easy even a 19 year old can use it :)Although course grind is recommended I use very fine espresso ground coffee and only get a touch of silt (no grinds) in the bottom of cup #2 using only two of the included filter screens.Mine also came with two extra filter screens (total of 4; two installed, two in a bag) but see no reason to use them as the two included in the plunger assembly should last nearly forever. The plunger rod can be easily unscrewed from the top knob and the bottom filter assembly as delivered and there is no need to over-tighten them for use, keep them lightly screwed together and you'll have no problem taking it apart for cleaning. It is super easy to clean and looks good on the counter where our junky old kuerig used to be... (can you say 'hot water through plastic'?)17 Month update:We have used this 2-3 times a day for over 17 months and it still preforms like new. Looks great, works great, still using the first two filters. This one is holding up so well I see no reason we will EVER have to buy another. If we did we get this one again.

Keeps coffee hot
The pot is hard to clean. I do not want to dump all these coffee grounds down the drain and they are hard to get out of the bottom of the pot. You also must get coarse ground coffee. This means, in my experience, you use more to get the same strength. I'm not liking that aspect since the coffee is expensive. But that is a french press and not a specific attribute unique to this one. Overall it's nice. We didn't spend a lot of money to buy it and it looks great. As french presses go I guess it's good since I've never had one before. (PS: I have gone back to my Mr. Coffee and just make awesome coffee with it. It will run forever and if it ever dies I will buy another.) But french presses are nice. : ) My adult kids love them. Perhaps they will take this one with them?

Sturdy
Decades ago I bought a French press but it had a plastic lid/ press bit and after 20 years the plastic gave up. I looked for a replacement for that part (I was very loyal to my old press) and I stumbled on this one. It's twice the size of volume (win!) solid construction all metal (win! no plastic) and easy to use and clean. I love it, it's sturdy, and perfect and the price was fantastic!
