AquaQuest Guide Tarp – Ultralight Waterproof (5,000 mm) Seam-Taped 40D Ripstop Rain Fly for Backpacking, Stealth Camping & Thru-Hiking

Just got back from a canoe trip today and felt compelled to write a review on this tarp. I had purchased the 10x13 and brought it along with the intentions of using it for shade. Well, it had called for some rain, and when it did, I quickly realized my tent rain fly leaked and we had a lot of expensive gear, along with our food in this particular tent. If it hadn't been for this tarp being large enough to be used as another rain fly, I could've lost a lot, between my power station, and CPAP machine alone, possibly my life if I had to sleep without either. We ended up getting a soaking rain for about 20 hours, and a thunderstorm, with 30mph wind gusts, that lasted 4. Not a single drop entered my tent, and it held all the abuse from the wind. This is hands down a beast of a tarp and most definitely worth everything they ask for it.

This tarp will be for a variety of uses outdoors in a variety of conditions/terrain. I love how compact and light it is, (and the high quality storage bag) so it can be taken wherever desired. There is adequate room within the storage bag to include 50 to 100 ft. of lightweight cord, (paracord or thinner) plus 2 or more tent stakes if/as desired without being crowded. There are LIGHTER tarps on the market, but for a considerably higher cost, plus the thinner/lighter tarps are often less durable. This tarp is a great quality and value for the price.

Bought eight years ago, still terrific. Love the light weight, plus many well-reinforced loops.

I love this tarp but my only issues are . It’s color is to visible , maybe a camo color. Woodland, multicam , digital. My second and last issue is the material is very light weight and easily ripped if not careful. Such as dogs, branch’s, packing it in with tent stakes. Maybe variables

Kept us dry ALL weekend in downpour

I bought this tarp for a backyard party when Mother Nature threatened (& delivered!!) a rainy forecast. The tarp arrived on time and was neatly packaged in a stuff sack about the size of a pair of men's shoes. I am a former Outward Bound Instructor so I know a good outdoor product when I see one and this tarp met and exceeded my expectations! It is super lightweight, so despite its size, it was easy for me to put up by myself. And despite the light-weight fabric, it didn't let a drop of rain come through, even though some rain pooled in one area overnight. I used lightweight ropes, secured them using the multiple tie out loops. The prolific tie-outs made it easy to secure the tarp to various anchor spots around our patio. I used a combination of easy half-hitches, bowlines and trucker hitches. We were totally dry and everyone in attendance was really impressed by this product. It worked out perfectly and gave us the use of our lovely patio in the rain. I thought this product was a little expensive, and you can certainly find cheaper tarps, but this one is light-weight enough to take backpacking and use on the trail. I would definitely buy this again, & just might buy a second one!!

Just got back from a 9 day camping trip to Cape Breton Island and used this rain fly for the first time for our "mess hall". (20 x 13 size) We had rain pretty much every night and some days of very strong winds. One afternoon when we returned to camp, our whole "mess hall" (including the fly) where blown down and scattered about. We reset it with stronger rigging and didn't have a problem after that! This thing took a beating with no problems whatsoever. The attached loops provide a number of different pitching options, and held up to strong winds. A normal tarp would have definitely torn out some grommets in those winds! Also, no leaks at all, even along the seams. Kept us nice and dry during meal times. Also, packs up smaller and lighter than a typical 2 person backpacking tent. I was very impressed and will probably buy one of the smaller sizes for personal camping use.

Its admittedly an expensive tarp, but you get what you pay for! Light weight, very gòod quality! Many styles of setup options due to the many tie off loops! I'd highly recommend it! I own a few tarps from Aquaquest and they do their job perfectly every time!

Relativ günstig und tut was es soll... es ist nicht das leichteste, aber es geht hoestly.. und so groß ist das Packmaß auch net. Ich habe es mehrfach aufgebaut und bisher keine Probleme. Kann ich empfehlen!

Great product. Highly recommend. Highly effective rain protection. Lots of potential tie outs. Nice pack sack too! Not FR though, be careful!

This is an excellent tarp to be used to keep large groups dry. Its lightweight enough to be portable. Good quick service
