Good Quality
Love it! Great size for my child and comes with a silicone cup to divide food. I got silver because I have seen in reviews that the ones with color can chip. This seems like it will definitely last him several years. I’m pretty happy with my purchase.

Bentgo Kids Stainless Steel Leak resistant lunch container
I bought this Bentgo Kids Stainless Steel Leak proof lunch container for my grandson for school for the fall. His brother has one and it is perfect for lunches! Easy to open and keeps things in place and cool for a refreshing lunch! Doesn’t leak, keeps cool, and a very nice size to hold a good amount of food for lunch! Highly recommend!

Good, leak proof, but heavy
Great for my 4/5 year old. We switched from the classic 5-compartment plastic Bentgo. That one was great for my preschooler (light, leak proof, easy to open and close, good size compartments for his age). This larger metal one is also leak proof. But it is significantly heavier. And it is a bit harder to close (the metal latches need to be pulled up by pulling up on the lid before it will close and you can latch it). So if your kid is a bit older, and/or practices with you a bit, closing it on their own shouldn’t be too hard. My only complaint is that it isn’t really dishwasher safe. I handwash it 75% of the time, and the other 25% I put it on the top shelf in the dishwasher. The color coating on the top has started significantly peeling. The Bentgo logo started peeling first, and I thought I could slow it with a sticker. But the next wash, the whole corner started to go. Otherwise, it’s great.

Too expensive to be immediately defective
I read the reviews from other purchasers, and I was worried about the hinges/clasps but figured I'd give this shot (because for some reason I thought it would turn out better for me, lol ok). I love the stainless steel, I love the size of the compartments and the little silicone cup (I'm a sucker for the little features). Its pretty slim which is also really nice to slide into a backpack and tbh my son thought it looked like a fun little laptop. Whatever gets you through the day, ya know? I bought two of these so my kids wouldn't be endlessly fighting over them; one of them is fine, but the other had clasps popping open on its maiden voyage. Before I even put food in it! I thought maybe it needed time to stretch out its little jonts and hinges and used it for a short car trip. Wrong! the clasps never closed completely, and they still don't. The clasps click and close on the top, vs other bentgo containers where they click shut on the bottom. Those feel really secure and you can hear the "click" to know they're fully closed and airtight. These just kind of slide into place without much of a click - it honestly surprises me that the closing mechanism feels a bit faulty and poorly made for something that otherwise feels really solid. The plastic the clasps are made with honestly feel cheap and like a total afterthought. I know little tiny hands need to be able to open these but the clasps slide on and then just slip right back off 75% of the time I close it, and I'm only 4 days into owning it. And even though closes pretty decently without the clasps, I'm not spending fifty dollars (!) for something which carries the risk of a child haphazardly throwing it in after lunch, with all the stuff he told me he ate, but didn't really, and then the whole backpack is covered in strawberry juice and smeared peanut butter at the end of a long day. I need things to make my life easier, not things that make me swear more. Supes grateful for free returns. byeeeeeee!

Great Lunchbox for Elementary School and MiddleSchool, Good Compartment variety, size, and leakproof
I bought this lunchbox for my 11-year-old daughter who wanted something that fits in her bag, was leakproof, and had a bento-box style. The lunchbox is nice in that the compartments hold a nice variety of items. We have packed everything from sandwiches, frozen and fresh fruit, cut up veggies, tuna salad, chocolates, pretzels, sushi rolls, crackers, cookies, etc. PROS: Nice variety of compartment sizes makes it easy to portion food. Easy to clean. I hand-wash it when it comes home and set it to dry. My daughter then makes her lunch after dinner and we pop it in the fridge overnight. Lunch stays cool until lunch time Leak-proof - frozen fruit which melts by lunchtime doesn't leak into her bag not too heavy she can open and close the latches with no trouble It is easily stack able and fits well in the fridge Cons: I am concerned that the latches may break over time, but so far they are fine. We have had the lunchbox for a while and its used daily during the week. I would like the lunchbox to come with a small waterproof bag so that the whole thing can be slipped into her backpack. The lunchbox is leak proof, but not if you accidentally forget to close one of the latches. A bag would contain any mess.

Beautiful design, but ...
We've had our purple stainless steel Bentgo box for less than 2 years now. Some things to note - yes, you can wash it in the dishwasher top rack, but the color seems to peel off after doing this. So hand washing typically is the way to go. I will note that if you don't remove leftover food immediately, the stainless steel will still mold and stain. We think we're okay with this because we do run this through the dishwasher regularly, which should sanitize the metal, but the stains are still there. So don't make the mistake of leaving school lunches in there over the weekend, thinking there won't be consequences because this steel is "stainless". We chose stainless steel for our daughter's lunch box because we were concerned about plastics and wanted to reduce the amount of plastics her food comes in contact with. This is great in that regard. The weight is heavy for a young child. 1.3 lbs is understandably measured without food contents. I usually end up carrying her backpack even though this box and a water bottle are the only things in her backpack. The latches are hard to open. My 4yo has her teacher open it for her. The school is understandable with this. Since it's steel, the box doesn't maintain food temperature. Important to consider when choosing items to pack for lunch. We love this product because the design is just so sleek and beautiful. It's a very slim box. The compartment sizes are just right for a 4yo's appetite. Hopefully the purple finish will hold out a little bit longer.

Bentgo Stainless Steel Lunchbox
I bought this lunchbox for my second grade daughter for school lunches. We started preschool with the original Bentgo Kids (which is still going strong), then got the Bentgo Chill (also working great, but it's a little hard for her to close), and now this beauty of a lunchbox. It is the best of both bento lunchbox worlds; the sturdiness and ecofriendlieness of metal, with the leak-proof qualities of plastic. I love the silicone lid, and have successfully packed yogurt without leaking between cups or out of the lunchbox. It fits (tightly) in the Pack-It lunchbox. The only problem was, the second time we washed it in the dishwasher (it says on the box that it is top-rack dishwasher safe), the purple film on the cover started peeling off. I reached out to Bentgo directly to see if I could get a new sticker or exchange the lunchbox for another one, and the company very kindly (and quickly!) sent me a replacement lunchbox. Overall, I am very happy with this Bentgo product. I hope they make more of the silicone cups in different sizes to go inside this lunchbox; they are really nice! My daughter loves it, too, and says it's her favorite lunchbox that we own.

Expected WAY More From Bentgo
We have exclusively used Bentgo Chill boxes for my son but now that he’s 8 and needs more space (and also trying to avoid plastic,) I bought one of these to try. I am so disappointed and we’re immediately returning it. It was impossible to open initially, like actually impossible, but once we finally got it it wasn’t as bad, however, closing it is really challenging because you need to lift the hinges and while holding it up and pulling it down to close you have to also simultaneously be able to flip out the locks which flip back in constantly as you’re trying to close it. You essentially need 3 hands as an adult, let alone a child trying to do it while in a hurry during lunch time. Additionally, I’ve attached a picture of what the top looked like just after a few minutes of us trying to practice with him to see if he could open and close it and no matter what I used, the fingerprints would not go away. C’mon, Bentgo, this is your lane, this should be way more child friendly, especially for the cost!!

EXPENSIVE, nice and barley lasted 1 year!
EXPENSIVE, nice and barley lasted 1 year!! I think it keeps the food fresher but not 100% certain. Easy to clean. Prefered these over our old yumbox bentos. I wish there was a leakproof lid for the silicone container that comes inside the bento. They fit a lot if you know how to pack in - however the bowls are quite shallow and easy for delicate fruits and veggies to get squished and bruised if not cut small enough to fit just so, when the lid is closed. Update OCT 2024. I expected more from a $90 metal bento box. Sadly after 1 year of gentle/normal ocasional use the hinge just popped off from the lunch box. Upon close inspection it doesn’t look like it was secured down strongly but just gently soldered together. I won’t be buying these lunch boxes again.

Very Versatile Lunch Box
We have many different lunch boxes - the regular Bentgo, two different Yumboxes, and a 3sprouts lunchbox but I think this one is the best. It is very versatile and works for both sandwich type lunches, and more bento types. I really like the little silicone insert and wish I could buy more of that size and half the size separately. It is completely leakproof and has held up very well to my not so careful 7-year-old's handling. No scratches, stains, or dents after using it for the school year. I also find it easy to wash and dry. Lot's of the other lunchboxes tend to hold pockets of water but this one air dries easily. It's a bit heavy due to the stainless steal so keep that in mind depending on your child's age. It's also a larger size so maybe better for Grade 1 and up.
