I am a hair stylist and while I live new innovations some of them are to good to be true. When it arrived there wasn't much instruction to it. I plugged it in and let it get warm. After it was heated I ran the brush in section throughout my hair. I saw not change. However with so many years of being in the business I have had every hairstyle and matching color to go with it that you can think of. Which means my hair is not of normal texture or porosity. I handed the brush over to my daughter who has gorgeous shiny virgin hair and it worked beautifully. For us the end result was what shape your hair was in. I have really thick hair so straightening my hair with a traditional flat iron takes forever (I have to do it in sections). I'm talking like 20-30 minutes. Using this on its own isn't enough because it's not really possible to curl the ends under. They actually look pretty bad. BUT, also using a flat iron after using this to smooth out the ends looks fantastic.With the double dose of heat my hair was starting to get a little damaged, so I started using coconut water on just the ends and voila! Beautiful, silky styled hair! This takes me half the time. I really like the adjustable temperature setting on this. I like I can set it on a lower temp when I just wanna touch up my hair and not burn my hair up. I also like that it come with a glove so I'm not burning my hand when I use the brush.
