Experience Luc Besson’s 1997 sci-fi classic in stunning 4K. New York, the twenty-third century. The Earth is about to be destroyed by a huge ball of fire racing toward the planet. Cornelius, an old monk, knows how to stop the burning sphere: the Fifth Element, the Supreme Being, who unites the four basic Elements -- air, water, fire and earth -- must be summoned for it is the only being who can stop Evil. Cornelius, with help from Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis) a taxi driver and former secret agent, and Leeloo (Mila Jovovich) an alien in the shape of a beautiful, orange haired woman, set off on a myriad of adventures in an attempt to save humanity and fight the horrendous Zorg (Gary Oldman).

Just as good as reviewers said
Because Amazon likes to mix together all the reviews, I want to specify this review is for the UK release of The Fifth Element 4K Ultra HD Blu ray from StudioCanal released in 2020. First a bit of background information: if you didn't know, at the time I am writing this 4K releases are region free. The regular Blu ray is region B locked, but with the 4K UHD version who really needs it? I can live without the bonus features only on the regular Blu ray for the best available quality of this movie. This version is supposed to be the absolute best release of this movie ever, and after watching it I completely believe this. I didn't have a way to compare the Sony and StudioCanal versions personally, but I have been a fan of this movie since its original release and all reviews claimed this to be the far superior release. I have seen this movie a lot of times on both DVD and Blu ray, so I went for the best version available and I'm very glad I did. This version just looks amazing. I literally kept saying throughout my first viewing of it how impressive this looked. I was seeing a lot of details that just weren't there before, the colors were richer than ever and the DolbyAtmos sound is just as impressive. If this movie is on your top ten list and you have a full 4K setup, do yourself a favor and get this version. You won't regret it.And for the dimwits who are giving low ratings for this and complaining about no bonus features on the 4K disc; the best 4K releases only have the feature itself because they are made to be the highest quality possible, not the most crap they can cram into a small space. The Ultra HD stands for "Ultra High Definition" and that literally means the best possible quality for the movie itself. If the extras are more important to you, just don't buy 4K Ultra HD discs. Don't complain that a format you don't care for doesn't deliver what it was never intended to. Go to McDonald's and order a hot dog, then throw a tantrum that they don't have any. It makes just as much sense.

Multi Pass!
This is one of my favorite Sci-Fi movies. I bought it on DVD when it first came out. I was told this was the best version of this movie on 4K from a youtuber. Better than the Sony release. It looks great on 4k and would recommend this to anyone that likes a Sci-Fi action/comedy/adventure film.

The Fifth Element, Studio Canal Versus Sony Versions, Nod to Studio Canal
I was watching on-line videos about 4K movies and came across a video by TheOriginalFuzz, and he reference the Studio Canal release of The Fifth Element in 4K, saying he like this version more than the Sony Presentation of the movie.Being a big fan of The Fifth Element, the plot, and audio/video I was intrigued to see if the Studio Canal version would be better as TheOriginalFuzz was saying.Studio Canal is base in Europe, I believe the UK, and releases many Hollywood movies, I guess to European audiences for Hollywood. I found various versions of The Fifth Element, and I'm reviewing the Studio Canal 4K with the artwork cover with the black bordered top.The Studio Canal version's actual 4K disc is all region, and can be played on all updated 4K players, but the Blu-ray disc with all the special features on it is Region B, which is only for the European market. So if you are a big fan of The Fifth Element and like in an area where your 4K player won't play Region B disc, only want the best 4K version, and don't care about the the special features, or already have the Sony version with the special features then you might want to get this version of the movie. The Studio Canal version sells for about $20.00 USD more than the USA version by Sony when it's on sale. Does this warrant the higher price to see The Fifth Element where only the Video appears better and you might not be able to see the special features on the Region B Blu-ray disc?Regarding the difference between the video quality of the Sony versus the Studio Canal version, I would say the Studio Canal version is slightly better... The colors aren't as bright in the Studio Canal version, and the Sony version seems to be a bit darker with slightly less detail. Perhaps the colors and flesh tones of the Studio Canal version are more natural is the best way to describe it.The different video quality is often times very subtle, but at other times it's noticeably different. It depends mainly on which scenes are on at the time.I guess what's going to be important to the non-region B buyer is if they love The Fifth Element that much to want to buy another disc that's going to run about $20.00 more just to get the Studio Canal version with the better video in 4K than the Sony version they currently have?I did and since I have about six copies of The Fifth Element from DVD, Superbit DVD through 4K, I was willing to spring for the extra $40.00 USD for yet another version, which I will be pairing with my Fifth Element Steelbook 4K for the special features on that Blu-ray disc...PS. If you see different border tops on the Studio Canal 4K of The Fifth Element, it appears to because the slip case if you get it has the silver border (first photo) while the actual artwork on the case has the black border (second photo). Both are the same version with the 4K in all region and the Blu-ray in Region B only...

Probably not worth buying again
I have an earlier 4K version. I didn't really see enough improvement to justify buying this version.

5th Element is far from basic
Working on the US. Great picture and sound. This far exceeds streaming or watching it on TV. One of my top DVDs.

Low disc production quality?
I live the movie - one of my favorite ones! The problem is the disc. In a few months no player can read it. The visual disc’s condition is band new - no scratches, stains whatsoever. So I don’t know what happened to it. I feel like it’s a low quality of the materials used to manufacture the disc.
