How long does it take to feel the full effect of this product?

i took this pill and got an anxious feeling, then i had a feeling a euphoria like i was high on my first try. This happened the entire first week. After talking to some people, i realized that when i smoked marijuana in the past, the same thing happens. i get anxious then totally relaxed. its wierd. I take GABA daily now and i get this mild euphoric feeling like everything is alright with the world. the fist week was full on high, the second week was milder the third week i started feeling calm all the time. Now i take it and am completely good with the world.

I don't have the bottle in front of me, but this is from the NOW vitamin website:
GABA (Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid)	750 mg
Other Ingredients:  Hypromellose (cellulose capsule), Silica and Magnesium Stearate (vegetable source).
Not manufactured with wheat, gluten, soy, corn, milk, egg, fish, shellfish or tree nut ingredients. Produced in a GMP facility that processes other ingredients containing these allergens.

So, then,  does this product have the effect similar to prescription Gabapentin?

I've been taking this for a few months on and off.
The answer to your question is maybe. 
I'm still taking tiny doses, like 1/8 of a pill.
So i can't attest to taking a full dose.
But on the dose i have been on, this has both helped and possibly harmed me. 
I have seen improvement in my mental functioning but i have ALSO had random very sharp pains in various places. 
Both go away when im not on this GABA.
My friend also took these, once a week, a full pill, and he ended up with severe shaking.
The shaking seems to have stopped since hes been off of it for weeks.
We are also trying a natural GABA mixture soon.
Bottom line is, i think GABA supplementation from a safe source, and in healthy doses, may actually be comparable to Gabapentin.
I don't think Nows version of GABA is safe to take.
