Great product. Test mount the TV to insure it's centered before cutting in wire routing and electric.
An amazing product. Looks great. Easy to use. Well designed. It will take a little more time to install because it requires balancing the TV's center of gravity on the frame. Finding the TV's center of gravity is not difficult, but translating it into where the TV mounts on the bracket is. If the center of gravity is not centered (and it usually isn't), you will need to install the frame off center (or in our case, we moved moved it off center). Once installed, it was perfect. The TV can be easily raised or lowered. At the highest point, it tilts the TV forward to help with the high viewing angle. At the lowest point (with the TV dropped over 2 feet in front of the fireplace), it's very near eye level and quite comfortable for viewing. The confuit/cable routing makes it relatively future proof since you can add new wires as needed. Remember: Do not run the power wires in the conduit with the wires that carry signals (network, HDMI, etc.) since it can interfere and reduce the quality of the picture.Recommendation: Test mount the frame and TV before you cut in the wiring and electric.

Wonderful. Would be five++ stars with a lower price and a few product modifications.
Very well made and works very well. Instructions are very clear. Now for why I didnt make it 5 stars. The price is very high. Good product but there are other out there for less heavy TV's at a fraction of the cost. they would make good use of some screw operated adjustments to get the center of gravity adjustment just right and the same for at least one side on the vertical mounting of the TV to the operating mechanism adjustable just in case you are a hair off plumb. A VERY small error in the vertical plumbness in mounting the operating mechanism OR a little slop in the mechanism itself, will be visually multiplied by the length of the horizontal edges of a big TV and will look crooked. A few simple screw adjustable mounting pads would go a long way. Overall love it. Even if you don't use it for viewing in the lowered position, it makes everything about hook up or canges in connections to a wall mounted easier. I used TapCon screws into the mortar lines of my masonry chimney so I did not deface the bricks if it ever was removed, Much easier to fill and hide holes in mortar than a brick face.

Good concept, but you may need to add support to your wall.
If you don't have a vertical stud where you want this mounted, you will need to rip your wall apart, add some boards across the studs, then Sheetrock, plaster, and paint repairs. Overall good concept, but NOT an afternoon project. If you're not handy, it may be expensive getting a contractor involved. it's a box in my basement until I'm ready to repaint the room.

... of money I would expect the product to be easy to install but that is not the case
For this amount of money I would expect the product to be easy to install but that is not the case. Provided hardware is for drywall installation only. If you have brick or stone above your fireplace - your on your own. Installed, the mount does not hold the TV horizontal. Every time you move it, you have to take time to level it. I have no experience with other units but this appear hugely overpriced.

Great Idea....Average Execution
For years, we've lived with having to look up over our fire place to watch our TV. When we opted to get a larger screen, the wife expressed concern with using a conventional mount. We looked around, and found this. It looked like the perfect answer. My installation has some complications, as the electrical outlet and the signal cables were located where the arm mounts to the wall bracket. So, those had to move.Attaching the wall bracket was pretty straight forward. However, as part of the install you are supposed to attach the mounting rails to the TV and determine the center of gravity by picking it up. Really? Have you tried picking up a 65" set (52 pounds) with one finger? That was a useless exercise. Also, the hardware that was supplied with the mount to attach the mounting rails to the TV were either too short or too long (you get 15mm, 25mm, and 45mm). I wound up needing 35mm, so there's a trip to the home improvement store that wasn't planned. When we finally got everything installed and hung, we notice that it was almost impossible to get this TV level. There is a lot of play in the arm when it's pulled down into viewing position. They don't say as much on MantelMount's website. However, they do mention the next model up (which costs over 2x) has "additional stability control".So I guess I have to say that it's "OK". Just "OK". A brilliant idea, but it falls short of expectations.

Must Have, Competitor Mounts Can't Replicate the Pull Down Motion
Best TV swivel mount, period. There are a few cheaper competitor mounts, but I heard the construction quality was somewhat inferior and the downward pull down motion would be herky jerky and not smooth like the MantelMount. I didn't want to take the chance of buying a cheaper version and regretting it, so I bought the MantelMount and I am extremely impressed at how smooth the pull down is.It's solid and high quality, and it puts a smile on my face each time I pull down and raise my TV back up. Just feels solid, high-end and gives me confidence that it's going to last forever. The price seems a little high, but the true value is priceless. It's a high end home improvement, not just a metal mount. My only critique: simplify the install instructions. My workers did not have to use have the screws that were in the packaging. I suggest 2 versions, one for basic install highlighting the main screws to be used, etc. Then another version that incorporates all the little parts, as another option.
