Bought this to make sure I have it and read it for to my future children. She has broken many barriers and has done public work. While she may not be our president because she did not get the electoral college, she did win the popular vote by almost 3 million votes, and she did work very hard till be very bitter end. "It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat."     Great book and inspiring story for girls and boys

Bought this for my 7 year old son who, after reading it, said simply: "wow, I didn't know she had done all that!" It doesn't go into a lot of detail but there is a timeline at the end and, more importantly, it sets her accomplishments in context of her time. Perhaps giving a commencement speech as student speaker at college doesn't seem significant to us now but at the time, it was groundbreaking. And her history of service is truly inspirational.Based on reading the angry reviews posted here, perhaps we can't say that equality has progressed all that far for some of us. Still, I would urge those reviewers (not readers apparently)  to consider why there isn't a children's book on Donald Trump. Rather than complain, write. You may have to skim over quite  a bit to make it palatable.

I do not recommend this book.It's not inspiring and lacks emotional connection.  I can't figure out who the audience is supposed to be. Certainly not a 4 to 8 year old.  Nothing about the language is relatable, special or appropriate. The text consists of a series of unexplained superficial fact statements using phrases and images you'd never use to teach a child about Hillary Clinton, sexism, public service or the world. It poorly raises questions for a young child/girl that you don't want to answer. What's a prestigious East Coast college Mommy? Are thick glasses and a sailor dress bad? What's a violent demonstration?  What's the war in Vietnam?  What's a top-notch law firm?  Mommy, what's a threatening mob and a bulletproof vest?  Get ready to explain abuse of young women and "the attack on September 11" to your 5- or 6-year-old. "Her speech was blacked out by the Chinese government."  Mommy, why did Hillary know that reporters would make fun of her legs when she ran for president in 2007?  By the way it ends before the second campaign and nomination. The one star is because no stars is not an option. I don't know what to do with it; I wouldn't even donate it to a library. My quotes don't convey how awful it is; read before you purchase.  PS I am a professional mother and grandmother whose daughters were not allowed to be cheerleaders (my only rule), I write, I love good writing and I love Hillary.
