NOTE: Please be advised that I was provided a free sample from the seller in exchange of my honest review.First Impression: Wow, that's it. A tiny Wireless Wifi module the size of a Dollar Coin! The YKS Wireless Wifi module came well packed in protected soft foam wraps with default 5pin connector ready to be installed to the APM 2.x Flight Controller. In addition, an extra 6pin connector is also included, to replace the existing 5pin connector, in case one needs to connect to the PIXHAWK Flight Controller. But, where is the instructions on how to install the device and Software Setup/Configuration?Installing the YKS wireless wifi module to the Copter is pretty straight forward. However, there is no instruction that came with the package to show a step by step on how to make it all work. Only a piece of paper containing the network information such as: SSID, wifi password, TCP port number, Server IP address, Serial baud rate, and the APM/PIXHAWK pin out mapping.Luckily, since I am very familiar with Mission Planner (MP) and DroidPlanner functionalities, it did not take me long to figure out how to setup my PC and Smart Phone WIFI network, and configuring the SW (MP and DroidPlanner) settings to communicate and get telemetry from my APM Flight Controller.Connecting to the YKS Wireless Wifi is simple and straight forward. There are two easy steps to wireless remote connecting to the APM or Pixhawk Flight controller to get telemetry information.Telemetry Connection via APM Mission Planner Ground Control Station (GCS):1. DONETelemetry Connection via DroidPlanner on Droid Smart Phone:Connecting to the YKS wifi module, for telemetry, using DroidPlanner app on the smartphone or tablet requires similar steps as above.1. Perform step 1a through 1d as mentioned above: Connecting to the YKS Acess Point wireless Wifi network. But, perform those steps on your Smart Phone or Tablet.2. In DroidPlanner: a. Goto Settings b. Select Telemetry Connection Type and Select TCP d. Select Advance and Select Telemetry link speed and Select 57600 e. Select Server IP and enter: 192.168.0.99 and Select OK f. The item came well insulated with soft foam wrap and well packed.2. The YKS wifi module came with a default connector for the APM 2.x. Which is a 5 pin connector. The package also includes a 6 pin connector for the PIXHAWK.3. One sheet of paper with the WIFI SSID, Password, PORT number, Server IP address, Serial Baud, and pin out connections for APM and PIXHAWK.PROS:1. Simple and easy to setup (mount the device and connect to the APM Flight controller with no mod)2. Came with an extra connector for connecting to the PIXHAWK3. Wifi Range is within Visual Line of Sight while flying (not sure exactly how far is the range)4. Pretty much Work right out of the package5. Came with Network information such as SSID, Password, Port number, Server IP address, Serial Baud Rate6. Connect easily to APM Mission Planner Ground Control Station application and the connection is very reliable and stable with no packet droppedCONS:1. No steps by steps instructions2. When connecting the YKS Wireless wifi module to my SamSung Galaxy S4 using DroidPlanner app, DroidPlanner keeps reporting Connection and Disconnecting status (wifi connections drop and reconnect). This is very annoying. However, when using Mission Planner on my PC tablet, the connection is solid.Summary:The YKS wifi module is used in place of the 3dr radio. Which requires a ground and air modules. The YKS Wireless Wifi Module setup only requires installation of the module itself to the APM Flight Controller and no need for a ground module.Overall, this is an AWESOME WIFI module for telemetry communication with Mission Planner GCS or DroidPlanner app on a PC or smart phone or tablet. Connecting and communicating to APM MISSION PLANNER GROUND CONTROL STATION is seamless!
