Durable
I bought these for my two super chewers. They can destroy toys in under 10 minutes that are supposedly for nearly indestructible but sadly most do not make it in our house for long. I love the Himalayan chews, although they can finish one in a day, they last considerably longer than most chews. As we all know yak chews are expensive and I was doling them out sparingly. I saw these and after reading reviews thought, why not? I buy the large yak chews and they fit in the orange holder just fine. The openings allow for interest in the chew while preventing them for destroying it quickly. I hear them munching on the holder itself and so far there is zero damage. The first chew lasted just over a week before I took them out and allowed them to finish them off, took less than 30 minutes, and inserted new chews into the holders. That was several days ago and I believe they will hold for about another week before I remove them to replace again. They chew on them off and on throughout the day and carry them everywhere, often exchanging them between themselves because trading among dogs has more appeal for some reason. The chews themselves are being chewed on, there are teeth marks all over them but the holder prevents outright chomping. I’m super pleased with these and feel they will last a good long time while also making the yak chews last longer and go further, making us all happy.

Pyrenees Approved
So, if you’ve ever met a Great Pyrenees, you know they’re enormous. With enormity comes enormous, powerful jaws and big, strong teeth. Miss Xena, my Pyrenees puppy, was decimating an XL cheese chew in about five minutes, quite literally. That gets expensive, real fast. And it’s no fun for Xena, when the five minutes are up and mom doesn’t have anymore pricey cheese for her. Enter the jughead. This thing is a game changer, seriously. She’s been chewing the same chew for 2 days and while it’s got tooth marks all over the exposed parts of the cheese, that sucker remains intact and she’s still enthralled by it. This is fantastic. It was very easy to put the cheese inside, stays in securely. No complaints there. My only issue with it is the horrible odor and the flavor. How do I know it tastes bad? I know, that sounds really weird. I didn’t lick it, I swear. I accidentally put my hand to my mouth after handling it, and the flavor is nasty, strong, and bitter. Wash it before you give it to your dog, and wash your hands after you handle it for the first time, or you will feel like you ate one of those earwax flavor joke jellybeans for the next few hours. Anyway, five stars from me. My dog is thrilled. The other three dogs are pretty upset with me though, for only getting one. I’m kicking myself too, I bought this during the Amazon pet days sale for $10 and now it’s double that. But it’s worth it, so I just ordered two more. Can’t disappoint the furry masses, after all, in the name of saving a few dollars. I’m thinking I’ll make it up in savings on cheese chews anyway.

Great idea, won't hold up for a heavy chewer
Unfortunately, not all that durable. Our Staffordshire mix has chewed through it enough that she can now easily pry the Himalayan chew from its prison. It lasted for about 3 chews.

Best for dumb dogs
Cheese sticks were starting to get expensive, puppy would get one stick every other day, and it would be gone within three hours. I happened upon this, and purchased it without a second thought. The idea of spending less money on cheese was extremely enticing. Day one: puppy could not figure it out, spent a total of nine hours before somehow removing the cheese stick from the Jughead. Very angry, throwing it around the house and almost breaking the tv twice. Very amusing to watch at work. Day two: whatever she did to remove the cheese from the Jughead 4 days prior was not something she would soon forget. 20 minutes and the cheese was out. Minimal angry outbursts. I waited two entire weeks and bought her a coffee (tree?) stick to hold her over. She was not a stick dog. She is now a stick dog. Tried one more time to shove some cheese in Jughead, with the same results. Whatever she does to get the cheese out, this toy has been rendered useless after the first nine hours of use. We will be trying beef cheek things next, as I’ve heard as many good reviews from that as I had from the coffee (tree?) stick. The stick alone has proven to be more cost effective. We will allow one cheese stick a week at best. Overall, this is a great thing to slow your dog down, even if it’s by 20 minutes to 9 hours. Avoid your dog getting smart and take it up before they figure out the Jughead secret.

Very pleased.
The only thing my 50-lb pit mix hasn't destroyed yet despite frequent use. The holder turns a yak’s milk chew from a 3-hour snack into something he’ll work over for a week or two. We’ve had it for months, and it’s somehow still alive. For context: we’ve gone through 8 Large Extreme KONGs in 4 months. Our doggo is persistent and a master of finding a way to get what he wants. He can peel the top off the kongs by working the seam in under 30 minutes now. So far this holder works for him as it shows reveals enough if the yaks milk to keep him from tearing apart the rubber instead., It’s the only enrichment toy that hasn’t immediately met an untimely end. I honestly didn’t think such a thing existed.

Too big too heavy
Way too Big and too heavy for my dogs. Wanted it for the Himalayan yuk chew toys but they were way too big

Great toy
Our dog LOVES yak’s milk cheese sticks, but they constantly slide under the couch - this is the perfect solution and it’s kept him busy for hours as he chews on it

Not for super chewers!
This lasted my American Bulldog mix about two hours. I was super excited because the reviews were great! But if you have a super chewer, this product isn’t for you. If I wasn’t monitoring him, this could have caused an obstruction.

Awful smell and misleading advertising
My puppy was not impressed with the smell of the chew, and it was very difficult to get rid of it. The chew's advertising is also very misleading, as you think the Super 100% Natural Cheese Chew comes with it, which it doesn't. You ask yourself, what are you advertising more, the chew or the insert?

Great for tough chewers
This is a great product. Having 1 giant amd 1 large dog yak chews do not last long but this chew guard really helps provide a bit more of a challenge for them!

TOUGH chewer approved
HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR TOUGH CHEWERS!!!! we have a 1yr old Rottweiler and I have struggled to find a durable toy that lasts and that I feel safe to let him chew. This HOLDS UP! He has been working at it for 2 days on and off and so far ZERO wear to the rubber and he has barely made a dent in his Yakchew inside. He normally eats them halfway down in 20minutes. Can’t recommend enough. So worth the price and will save money on the yak chews too. I hardly leave reviews but I had to come back here to recommend as I have not found any other toy that keeps him interested that doesn’t wear down.

Absolute trash! I need to stop buying stuff the algorithm suggests me.
I purchased this so my dog could chew safely on his Himalayan sticks. Understandably the dog just sees it all as one big chew. This item was destroyed after the first 10minutes of using it. On top of it there is a strong artificial plastic smell that also doesn't disappear after putting it in the dishwasher. Don't buy it! Some items weren't needed in the past hundreds of years of pet ownership and are also still not needed today. This is one of them. Most useless dog toy invention that I came across so far.

Love this
I love this for keeping my Labrador pup entertained for ages. I put marrow chews, fish twists and pigs trotters in it and it keeps her going for ages. So far it's held up really well with no damage but does have quite a strong rubber smell.
