Does this fit a K2 explorer inflatable kayak?

No. We sent it back. None seemed to fit, but found one on EBay from Cz Republic. Just got it and it fit! Look at one of the valves. Ours said 2017 on it, even though we bought it this year.

Can the base be glued on a curved surface like a kayak hull instead of a flat surface?

No I don't believe that would work unless your kayak is an inflatable . then the kayak material would form to the fin base. Good luck with what you are doing.
