Excellent product for basic uses
I use a tablet principally for reading books and keeping up with news from several sources, plus an occasional solitaire game, checking email and brief Internet access. This tablet performs perfectly for those tasks and is a light load while traveling. The battery life is great, the screen is easy on the eyes and crystal clear, the controls work well, it's fine for checking the weather forecast, memory so far is adequate for the tasks I need, it gives no sign of inadequate construction, and the price is right. I don't need advanced math, intricate word processing, multiple daily movies or intense imaging -- can't comment on such uses -- but for my own needs, I'm very pleased.

Spend the extra $20, buy the ME176 instead...
This model has a couple of issues I learned the hard way. First, unlike the ME176, this version can't charge off of a USB cable from your computer or laptop. It requires more current, so it ONLY charges with a specific adapter, included with this specific tablet. Second, it was sold as KitKat compatible, and the "original" plan from Asus was to offer an automatic upgrade once you signed in, and configured your tablet. Asus pulled the KitKat upgrade option from their servers within days of release, because of firmware incompatibility. As of right now, there are no future plans to allow a KitKat upgrade for this model. Evidently there were some tablets shipped with KitKat installed, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are eventually returned for errors. So, If these 2 issues don't bother you, this is a great first tablet and it exceeds anything else in this price range. It's a good tablet, performance is not an issue.

Dead charging port!
Charging port died within 3 months of owning this. Too bad too because the tablet is amazing for the price!

Great starter tablet or back up tablet or extra tablet
I own this aaand the ASUS MeMO Pad 7 ME176CX-A1-RD 7 (red) and this is my take! For a little extra you get......A more powerful processor (for multi-tasking) 4 horses is better than 2 the other model has a quad core this has a duel8 more GB of memoryBetter screen resolutionBetter build qualityFor a little less (THIS TABLET) you get...... (face it $20 is $20 thats 1/5 the price of this tablet and that matters to some people)A tablet that performs well, goes online and able to perform tasks (using apps/games/video/surfing) just dont try to use 8 apps at once (and why would you octopus?)Screen is decent I mean, why do you need a 4K screen on something thats only 7 inches? You lose half the processing power and a little screen resolution you gain a tad bit lighter and sleeker/smaller yet still 7 inch tablet. You dont get to pick a color (black only)You get a *front speaker* on the top as opposed to the other models speaker on the back *lower bottom* ( i will say the ME176CX speakers IMO are louder if even in the back)I also feel the more expensive models glass screen is smoother to the touch(one of the smoothest screens I have ever felt your finger moves across the screen with ease like no other) this one isnt bad its just not as smooth/"glide-y"Both models come with bloatware (preinstalled apps)In end if youre not looking to spend more than $115 on a tablet this is a great choice but if youre going to buy an sdcard WITH your purchase of this tablet you might as well spring the extra cash for the other model in end its more powerful and IMO its made better (back to front)NOTE: This tablets charger can NOT be taken out (USB) and plugged in to a different adapter! This charger is one piece and specific to this tablet! If youre looking to give someone their first tablet this would be a great choice its one of the smallest and lightest tablets I have ever seen or owned, just not the most powerful, but most of the things we do on a daily basis with our tablets doesnt necessarily need all that power. You might end up paying for something more expensive and never fully utilizing it and could have gotten/bought something cheaper and would be just as effective for what youre using it for!

for sub $50, Worth it
Perfect little tablet, with built in GPS! Google maps works like a charm, but to speed it up I would recommend downloading a local of the area you are in. This thing will NOT run Pokemon Go out of the box, I do not know why, how ever, if you look for the .APK file (install file) you can install it and it will run. This tablet was purchased for my daughter for that very reason. Good buy! This thing really feels solid in your hands, but not heavy. The screen is crisp and bright. The battery life, on battery saver mode is about 6 hours, not on saver its around 3. For a sub $50 dollar tablet this thing is great. My kid loves it. I will update in a month to tell you how durable and long lasting this device is.

I bought it as a present for one of the kids. So it was in the boxed all wrapped up for Christmas, way pass the return period. The charging port would not hold a charge. It was a dead paperweight.

Great for kids ( or budgeted individuals)
So for any parents looking for an affordable but good tablet for their kids, this could be the one. I ordered a dragon tab first cause of the decent reviews, but after a day or two I could tell it was a piece of trash. So please if your in a toss up between the two, don't hesitate to hit buy. I've owned several tablets and this particular tablet is very similar to the nexus 7 but half the price.Pros -LightweightGreat BatteryDecent screenFront and back cameraStable android systemGreat priceCon'sViewing angle isn't the bestSpeakers aren't as loud as the nexus lineOperating system isn't the newestAgain buying this with a case cost me 95 bucks. I spent 75 for a dragon tab and case but this is far superior. Please don't make the same mistake I made and buy this first.

This has been a great tablet. Easy to setup
This has been a great tablet. Easy to setup, quick and responsive. I used it to display Torque information in my car and it works well. I've streamed Netlfix and played local videos on it and it works well. Great little tablet for the price.
