good fidget toy
this is now my favorite fidget toy. works fine as a pen but idk enough about pens to determine if it is better or worse than other pens at writing. but it is my daily driver for fidgeting. it is probably also moderately effective at the self defense/breaking glass stuff but im not trynna test any of that. it is hefty which i consider a positive

A meaty, meaty, heavy pen, and good looking too.
A meaty, meaty, heavy pen, and good looking too. I first bought the aluminum version and liked it so much I got this one as well. They're two very different pens, even though, in terms of design and mechanism, they're virtually identical. The major difference, of course, is the weight: the aluminum clocks in at 1.3 oz. while the steel is almost 3x as heavy with 3.7 oz. [Steel is 5.1 inches vs 4.9 for the aluminum.] What this means, in very practical terms, is that I can carry the aluminum version around my neck with a lanyard, which I do; but there is no way, unless you're the "Mountain" from Game of Thrones, that you would carry the steel version around your neck, day in and day out. Even though it has a pocket clip, this pen is plainly too heavy for a front shirt or coat pocket. In other words, it's made for your pant pockets-- and denim at that, not dress pants-- or to just leave it on your desk. With these limitations, you might think the alumimun is a better buy, and I would agree, but as I said before, they're very different pens and they serve different needs. The heavier one is just nicer to hold and the stone wash makes it look cooler. I got both for a reason and I recommend the same. They're well made pens. In terms of the "tactical" or "self-defense" angle, I would prefer to have the steel on hand since it feels like a lead pipe, but you're most likely to have the aluminum with you; either way, they can do the job [note: I have other "tactical" pens and these two just have a better feel in the hand]. Buy either one, and you'll want to own both. I did.

Coolest pen ever
I love this pen, it’s a heavy, solid, metal bolt action pen. It’s got a “point” on the end of it that could be used to break a car window. Or maybe derail a train, poke a hole in a ship, etc 🤪 best pen I’ve ever had, honestly

Amazing for the price!
Heavy but fun. Build quality, fit and finish, were very nice. Action is over-built and fun to play with. It's my EDC pen of choice

Beast of a pen!
It’s an obnoxiously heavy pen. If you want a pen that could be used as weapon and gets compliments this is your pen.

Very nicely made!
Even though this is a replica of the original pen made by master knife maker, hidetoshi nakayama, at a fraction of the cost, it is money well spent. It will no doubtlessly outlast you in your lifetime. The pen is solid steel and very nicely finished, no rough edges that would make writing unpleasant. The pen is heavy... it weighs 3.7 ounces!!! Durable! The mechanism seems to work very smoothly and though I've had it for half a day I can already foresee that it will work as intended for a lifetime. I think I will order the distressed finished one next for my range bag, this satin finished one will probably sit on my desk and serve me well just there.

When you wish you could do more with a pen than just write
This CoolHand 5.1 really does live up to its advertisement; solid piece of steel, looks like 2mm thick shell at the glass breaking tip; I replaced the Scmidt P900 ink refill with a similar Parker model and well, it's a fine and hefty pen. Built to operate like a handgun with that Bolt-action feature, has a serrated tip opening which apart from "DNA sampling" as advertised, I say it makes for a potential weapon to inflict some serious lacerations or... penetrative effect. All is fine with this product, it's the delivery under Prime Priority Shipping that costs another $8+ but took ages to arrive. What made Amazon shopping frustrating is that the Tracking Updates aren't updated, are inaccurate, and just plain unpredictable as to when it will arrive which makes staying home to receive the parcel next to impossible. Now that this pen is already in my pocket, the Your Orders page still list it as arriving or expected! My other order of an ArmadilloTek phone casing was slated to arrive on the 22nd February, but an Attempt to Deliver but Failed statement was entered the night this pen arrived, 15th February 8pm Singapore time. I ain't ordering anything for now till Amazon polish up their act.
