‘Rentio Foods’ is a household name for over 85 years now. Started during the nineteen thirties, Rentio Foods commenced its journey with a motto - ‘We believe in the Best’, from then, Rentio has been the king of toor dal. ‘Rentio’ is a Gujarati word which means ‘spinning wheel’ or ‘charkha’.

The reason behind the name of the brand is quite inspiring. One of the elder brothers of the family, Gordhandas Chokhawala, was fully involved in ‘The Freedom Movement of Nineteen Twenties’.

He Worked With Mahatma Gandhi and later became The President of Surat Municipality and was the first Mayor Of Surat Municipal Corporation, and later he became Education Minister in Gujarat Ministry.

So, when the question of selecting a brand name for the product cropped up, it was unanimously decided that ‘RENTIO’ should be the brand name.
