Great dach cam for a good price.
These are realllllly nice little cameras. I have one in my truck and one in a sports car. I have them in front of the rearview mirror so they don't get in the way of field of view at all, like other dash cams. I have taken them many short trips of 15 min and some long trips of 4hours each way with out stopping. No issues other than audio did repeat itself for the entire trip, but the video was just as recorded. Since I did not want to eat up a power outlet in the car, I decided to hard wire the unit. There are units made for this but if you know electronics and know how to solder you can use what you have in the box. I dismantled the power converter plug and just hard wired to radios relay. No problem when you have a good ground for it.One thing I would suggest is to use a little hot clue on the hazard button. The camera is very small which makes the buttons super small and hard to find if you need to hit is quickly to capture an incident. I added a drop of hot clue to the button so that it is raised and to a point. Now it is very easy to find and press.

Updated down to 3 stars, affordable, and worked good at first.
** Update:Well haven't even had it a year and it is not working anymore. Comes on and just goes to blue screen like it's connected to a computer. So frustrating. Guess I'll look for a better one to replace it...Original review: So far the best dash cam I have owned. I have had two before this and they were cheap, this was a good price and for what I paid it is working out great. The only problem I have had is the front face-plate is a sticker and it came off the first week. Not a HUGE deal but it does affect the appearance of the screen but not any of the workings or recording. I have also noticed that the screen doesn't stay turned off like I would like. It doesn't harm my car battery and works so I give it full stars though.

Low quality video, poor dark recording, random reset and stop of recording, etc..
The first camera recorded very dark images even with the EV high and the WDR turned on. The sound recording was a problem. The video was blurry unless my car was not moving. For the blur, if you don't feel like reading signs and license plates is necessary, the image quality is relatively decent. Of course, as I said, it was dark. Anything with a hint of shadow covering it, was nearly blacked out.The replacement camera had a flickering screen. I installed it and drove around the block. After about 10 minutes of recording, it turned off. It completely reset to factory default which reset the time and changed all my settings. One of the video files was corrupted. The first camera never had an issue like that. After two defective, low-quality cameras, I decided to look elsewhere and a different model.

Date/time lost when car is turned off - see Update
I recently purchased this dash camera.PROS:Small size makes it unobtrusive having mounted on the windshield near the rear view mirror. The adhesive pad that holds the camera mount to the windshield seems to stick very well. No problem with it falling off the windshield even after taking camera in and out of the mount.Image quality is very good.CONS:The BIGGY: when the car is turned off, the date/time information goes back to January 1. So if you want to have date and time of any incidents while driving, you have to remember EVERY TIME to set the correct date and time when you start the car. I don't know what the capacitor in this camera is supposed to be doing if it can't keep the date and time setting when you shut the car off.The little sticky pads to hold the cable, will only stick on the windshield glass, not any trim or other surfaces for any length of time. The instructions are a tough read, appear to be translated from another language.Overall, so far it seems like a lot of camera for the money. The problem with date/time loss is disappointing.UPDATE:I tried setting the date and time again and this time the camera appears to be storing the date/time even when the camera is off. I'm not sure why it is working now. I'll update again date/time is lost again.

It seemed like a very good purchase in the first week but ...
The point of a dash cam is to have a consistent working recording device so that if something happens you can use the footage. This product fails to deliver with by inconsistently recording data. I've checked the last day or so and found that while driving there are large gaps in the footage, and the device constantly turns itself off and on again. It seemed like a very good purchase in the first week but If you're going to buy a dash cam purchase something more worth while instead of wasting your money on a faulty product.PS: for anyone that does purchase the video quality is great during the daylight hours, but beware the nighttime drive as this camera cannot function well in low light.

Very happy with this purchase
Installed in car about a week or so ago. Was a little nervous when it comes in a plain brown box. Very impressed with the quality of the build of the cam and the excellent video. My wife and I have dash cams. She has the Dome Z7, which is pretty good, and I had an old C-600 which broke. I'm taking my wife's Z-7 and she gets this new A118-C. Here is a clip on YouTube if you want to see the quality of the video. Of course after youtube compresses the video, it isn't as good as the original raw clip. Be sure you are in 1080p.Copy & Paste: [...] Never mind...Amazon won't let me put the you-tube video address here. You can copy & paste this title in the You Tube search... A118 B40 CiBest dash cam Linda Salisbury MDUP-DATE 12/05/16 - I have 2 of these now and both are working like they were still new. It is easy to forget you have these in your car. They hide behind the rear-view mirror and the power wire is tucked under between the headliner and the windshield. I will still give this 5 stars.
