I honestly don't understand how some comments complain this stripper does "nothing" - I'm convinced these people just put it on like it's some kind of paint/a very thin layer ...+4 layers of paint on our door, and this is the result after just round 2! Door is CAKED in paint, during the 1st application the black layer already started bubbling away - very happy! You need to slap as much as possible on, then put foil on top - ideally leave it overnight, done. Don't mind it requires couple rounds, it's not a crazy strong stripper which we can't buy as a "normal person" anyway. Smell is very subtle as well.

This stuff is really easy to apply and remove! I've taken off one star because the results can be a bit variable and lifts the paint quite unevenly but I'm not sure if that's a me issue or a product issue. I apply a thick layer of this to my surface and leave it for an hour or maybe longer depending how many layers of paint there are, and then I wipe it off and scrub it using a wire brush or scrubber to remove as much of the paint and product as possible. I've found that the removal can be quite patchy and some area will need more than one coat, but other than that it's an excellent product. It doesn't smell bad and is non toxic which is a bonus.

Brilliant! I originally bought this product due to the low price. I thought if it didn't work, at least I hadn't spent a lot of money. I purchased it in 2023, put it in the cupboard, and completely forgot about it until two nights ago. I am redecorating my hallway, stairs, and landing, and needed to remove 6 layers of gloss wood paint from my bannister (handrail). Armed with a paintbrush, gloves, and clingfilm, I went to work. It was easy to apply and did not drip. I wrapped as I moved down the stairs, applying the stripper generously. It has a smell, but it's not unpleasant or overpowering. Be careful not to get it on your skin. I absent-mindedly touched my face with my gloves, and the skin started to sting immediately. A quick wipe using cold water and everything was fine, no burn or marks. I left my bannister wrapped up with product for 24 hours, and the results were fantastic! Removal was as quick and easy as applying it. The stripper removed all layers of paint, and in places, some of the varnish on the wood. If you enjoy peeling things, you will love this part of the process. It was VERY satisfying! I am planning to do one covering, leaving for a few hours only, to remove the varnish, before I repaint it. I've attached some before-and-after photos. I highly recommend this product.

I used this stuff to strip a fairly worn and sun-bleached IKEA Poang chair frame. For those that aren't aware, this is made from laminated wood (i.e., layers of wood glued and compressed together). I coated the chair and wrapped the parts in cling film for about 45 minutes before using both a steel scourer and a scraper to strip the dissolved varnish. This worked reasonably well but there was a lot of dirty residue left and therein, in my opinion, lies the problem with this stripper. It was quite difficult to clean up and required a lot of water which left the wood very wet and the grain raised in places. While sanding will smooth it back, I'm concerned that the top layer of wood will be damaged and water will have got between the laminates, thus weakening the chair. By all means use this but be aware of what you're using it on.

I needed a paint stripper to remove the black powder-coat paint on a 3D printer resin vat because the factory powder-coat paint had started to bubble and peel and flake off the vat and contaminate the resin. I googled all my options and Google AI said to use this Eco-Systems Home Strip Paint and Varnish Remover, applying a thick coat and leaving for a few hours in a plastic bag (to retain moisture in the air) and if the paint didn't come off, to leave it for 24hrs. After a few hours nothing at all happened, and after 24hrs nothing more continued to happen. I tried scoring the paint surfaces with a fine grade nail board, and left it another 24hrs. Still nothing happened. In the end I just used a mid-grade nail board and removed the powder coating where it was already peeling/flaking and managed to then sand down the paint on around the top rim. As for the sides, well, no joy at all. I shall be purchasing a completely different product as this one is useless - or is it Google AI that i useless? On the plus side, this may work on some paints - probably doors and window frames etc, and it does smell nice - like liquorice, and it is easy to apply.

Really good stuff ! No nasty stink of fumes and it strips varnish and paint .

I needed a paint stripper to use on a plastered ceiling where the paint was flaking off and wouldn't leave anything nasty behind so I could paint it again. It took 3 applications to remove the layers of paint but it worked. No smell and if you get it on your skin it doesn't burn or sting. It takes around 45 minutes after application for the paint to bubble up and then scrape off. I would recommend putting a sheet or something down to collect the gloopy paint that comes off. I bought a second tub to do more paint removal.

I thought I was buying a completely different make, that is my fault for not making sure what i was buying, I just looked at the size and thought that is a bigger tub than I can buy locally. It wasn't until it arrived that I realised the mistake, but I thought well if it works as well it doesn't matter. I followed the instructions and it bubbled up but did not take the paint off, also it is hard to take off I tried using a scraper and it barely touched it. It came away wet and dose stain if it touches carpet and though it doesn't drip from the doors it does drip very easy from the brush when putting on. I tried leaving it on overnight but it was just the same sticking to the door but not taking the paint off. it is very hard to take off door frames which have patterns and curves even though the scrapper goes in the stuff just seems to stick and every thing becomes one big mess. I didn't find any smell and I didn't find any irritation when it hit my skin I just found it hard to work with and not good for purpose

Results were mixed. Some areas it removed the paint well and then on a spot right next to it it just left a gooey mess that wouldn't scrape off. Used on old wooden staircase. No strong smell which was good.
