How do you remove the small black gas lift cover as noted in the assembly instructions?

I just finished assembling mine. Saying it simply “twists off” is just not true AT ALL. I had to use a tightening wrench then three hard pulls to finally get it to pop off. Maybe some of them are just a bit defected but you definitely need to use excessive force if it’s not easily coming off.

Just received this chair and it looks nice, but I can't find any assembly instructions. Are any available online?
