Whey can be really nasty tasting and tend to be rather hard on the kidneys. The Kura just might prove to be the exception to a lot of my objections. It does have a lot going for it, including the fact that it’s actually palatable. I’m on a medical diet and do need that extra bit of protein now and then as I’m on a predominately plant-based diet. Sometimes the taste of some protein powders, whey or otherwise, can be a total turnoff.My standard suggestion is that if you have any problems with graininess or the taste of any protein powder, simply mix it in yogurt. Most of the plant-based powders clump so badly they need to be mixed in a blender. Not so with the Kura. I put some milk in a standard hand shaker, added the Kura, shook for a few seconds, and poured it out. There was absolutely no clumping and, of course, it wasn’t grainy or gritty tasting.I put the milk in first and then added the Kura to prevent clumping, but it really mixed well. This particular whey protein has a lot going for it, including the fact that it from a grass-fed dairy source. No chances of any odd antibiotics in this protein mix. The only problem I had was the fact that the bag doesn’t re-close well, but I simply used a chip clip.One serving provides a decent 18 grams of protein, but this is not for those individuals watching their weight as one serving has 160 calories. The boost is needed for some, including my husband. It doesn't have any sugar added so I usually add stevia. Because it has whole milk as part of the ingredients it may give you a little bit of indigestion if you are lactose intolerant, but I don't have that problem.
