Great for pastel and good for oil pastels to. Your work will have a granulated look to it due to the paper texture. Gives my work a defudes look that I like. The paper colour is an off white ivory, so a nice colour for most subjects.

I did wonder about this paper at first and whether or not it was too rough. However, using quality colouring pencils it works a treat and I am now pleased with the results. See my peach of a photo.

As someone just a year into my art journey, I bought this to familiarise myself with this kind of sanded paper surface. It's a really good value pad which is much cheaper than the Canson Mi Teintes. or Pastelmat papers. I'm still learning and although pastels are my preferred media my touch is still a bit heavy-handed so my layers are thicker than they ought to be. This paper gives me the opportunity to learn and hone my technique without having to spend on more expensive paper that would be wasted on me. I did fill the tooth of the paper somewhat quicker than I had hoped, but I will refine my skills by practicing. The colour of the paper is a nice neutral mid-tone grey that makes the pad suitable for a versatile array of dry media including charcoal, pastels, and pencils and is ideal for practice. Definitely one to consider for students and anyone wishing to learn and practice technique without the outlay required for the aforementioned options. I did notice a tendency to curl at the corners when using a fixative but this may be because I used too much

Very happy to have discovered this paper , as there are a lot of products out there to choose from.. it's great for pastel work as it holds the pastel pigment well, and good for layering ( after a spray of fixative). Haven't tried other colours yet but this is off white and a forgiving colour as a ground. I've got this paper now in A3 and A4 size.

Paper made me think of pastelmat. I love using my polychromo's on it. Added bonus paper handles solvent without pilling or bleeding. Mine did bc I wanted to see if it could handle a dripping wet brush; yes it does; ofcourse that is not recommended how to blend. Just know it can handle that. When using any solvent I would recommend you to put a cardstock sheet under it;just to prevent contamination on next page if you want to keep it in the block. Paper works great with Jaxons oil pastel. I use a rubber blending tool for it. Derwent drawing works like a dream on it; I still have me a bit of a learning curve with lightfast pencils but will test those separatly. Compliments to Canson for this paper. I recommend it for beginners and not selling artist for practise and study. When selling just use archival paper for your own peace of mind; Im not at that point yet, so Im happy with this. #Netherlands

I recently took a colored pencil portrait class. The instructor had us using this sanded paper along with Polychromos colored pencils. It was a fun experience and I’m excited to use this paper with other media, perhaps pastels. I had hoped to find a 9 x 12” pad but ended up getting this A4 size which was close enough for what I needed.
