Piscifun Sword Fly Fishing Reel, CNC-Machined Aluminum Alloy Fly Reel

I've been fly fishing for over 40 years now and own a number of "high end" fly reels from companies such as Ross, Lamson and others. As such I know what a quality fly reel should look and feel like. This reel has that same feel. Is it a Lamson Speedster or Ross Evolution? No. But it isn't 300 dollars either. What this is, is a very good reel for an unbelievable price. In fact, I could buy 6 of these for the price of one of my high end reels. If I had a need for 6 reels I just might do it too. Folks will find the 2 obvious difference between this and those are the weight of the reel and the sensitivity of the drag. These appear to run a good 1 to 2 ounces heavier. Also the drag on this reel is overly sensitive. It kind of reminds me of the drag on the older Ross Cimarron reels. A very small adjustment on the drag knob means a big difference in the amount of drag applied to the reel. The problem is that with small adjustments making a big difference it's too easy to bump the drag knob and throw off the drag. The drag does have adjustment "clicks" in it to keep it where you want it, but still I would prefer a drag with a bit more room for error. As for durability of the reel, I won't be able to tell you that for another 10 years. But in using it to the degree I have, I've little doubt that it should prove to be a very good, long lived fly reel. Bottom line is this. If you're flush with cash, spend the money and purchase a high end reel. They are a joy to fish with. However, if you're like most people to whom money is an issue, I would highly recommend your looking at this reel. You will get an excellent reel at a price that--when you consider the quality of the reel--is just amazing. I don't think this will be the last Pascifun Sword I purchase.

Well done Chinese made fly reel for incredible low price

I bought this as a Back-up reel. I have a few ‘Big Name’ fishing rods and reels, but most of my equipment is moderate level gear. I do not believe that expensive gear automatically makes you a better fisherman. I read the reviews for this product, and was concerned with the comments that the clicker sound was missing or very low, I too like to hear a screaming reel of a big fish. I bought the reel anyway, and guess what, the clicker IS horrible ( can barely hear it). Do I regret my purchase? No. The reel is made well for its price point. The drag is smooth and effective, and while I prefer a louder clicker sound, I more appreciate my confidence that the drag system is doing the same job as my ‘more expensive’ reels. I fished a hard week in Montana this spring using this reel most of the time. I was so impressed. I am not a Label Snob, and am practical with my fishing budget. I like the fit, finish, and Function of this reel, and for its price point you can’t go wrong

Bought this to go on my back up rod. Used this reel all weekend up here in alaska caught my limit of reds two days in a row. The good: light, smooth, tight drag no slop good retrieve. A bit annoying not necessarily bad, The retriever handle is alittle slippery but I plan to put heat shrink on it to fix that. And I dropped the rod in the river getting the drag wet. It held tight no issue but when a fish would pull line or i strip line it would make a weird noise kinda sounding like a baby goat going meeehhhh. It was more comical than anything but overall i highly recommend this reel. It feels similar to a Redington rise 2

Haven't used the reels long enough to evaluate durability, but the quality, functionality, and appearance are very good, especially at their price around $50. After being impressed with my first one, I have ended up buying 3 more and all have been great so far.

It's well made, has smooth drag, quality finish. well worth the money. I got my sword 2 almost 5 years ago although the finish is a little rough (I'm tough on my gear) with light maintenance its still buttery smooth and does its job the way its meant to do it. I heard somewhere piscifun is getting out of the fly fishing game. If that's true I recommend getting yourself a couple.

Excellent reel! I have a couple double even triple the cost of this. No need to spend that. This reel covers it all. I’ve used the 8wt several times in saltwater over the years. Not a problem. (I do rinse in freshwater when done). Highly recommend! 👍👍👌🎣

Havent taken it out fishing yet. But did some false casting around the yard. Paired with the sword fly line. Good setup on a budget. Best bang for your buck.

Used the Reel the day after I bought it, and I caught over 30 Arctic Grayling on it, and it performed flawlessly. The fit, finish and tight tolerances of the Reel are all outstanding! I did not have a chance to test the drag on a fish, but it felt very smooth when I was stripping line out to cast. The clicking sound on the drag is quite quiet, something that I am not used to, having fished an Orvis Batten Kill Reel for many years that had a loud clicking sound on line in and out. So far I can 100% recommend this Reel! Time and Bigger Fish will tell how it performs long term.

That’s the 3rd I buy. So glad with this one. A little bit smaller than usual size 10. Not an issue for pike, may be an issue for salmon !

The reel is awesome and well built. Also wanted to add that piscifun is a great company with great customer service. I couldn't buy the rod to go with this from Amazon in Canada. So I decided to buy it from piscifun directly. The rod had a defect and piscifun sent me another rod free of charge. Great products good service.
