Color:Cobalt Odds are good that you clean your silverware, cups, plates, and bowls- almost anything that goes into your mouth-after every use. Why not your toothbrush? Unlike most of the other things you put in your mouth every day, your toothbrush has tightly packed bristles which form nooks and crannies that hold on to moisture, forming a perfect sanctuary for germs that cause illnesses like flu, cold, and diarrhea. Violife sanitizers use the same ultraviolet technology found in hospitals and high-end water purification systems to hit the germs where they live-in your toothbrush. The UV rays penetrate areas that you simply can't reach when running your brush under the tap, then safely and effectively obliterate up to 99.9% of disease-causing germs.

Replacing my old Zapi
I had a Zapi for about three years prior to purchasing this unit to replace it. The one I replaced was still working at the time I received the new one. Although the units separate to allow for internal cleaning, it's nearly impossible to get it truly clean. Areas in and around the UV bulb get some ugly stuff for which you just can't clean around. After a while, I started to get a bit uncomfortable about my toothbrush sitting in there with that funk even if the UV light is supposed to keep it sanitized. I can't help wondering if the UV light is actually working to sanitize the toothbrush, particularly when the nasty stuff, which is mold looking, is right in and around the light. Yet, I do like that it keeps the brush head out of the exposed surrounding environment and supposedly is receiving some benefits from the UV light. I am also pleased that my old unit worked without any operational issues until I decided to replace it. At the price of these units, even if I decide to replace it every year or two, I think the it's worth the value of the product.

What's that smell?
The Zapi arrived quickly as expected and seems to function properly, but I encountered a problem that I only noticed mentioned in one review: smell. The product itself is clean and odorless, but toothbrushes that come out sure aren't. I even threw away my toothbrush head after its trip through Zapi and got out a new one to be sure. When my new toothbrush head came out of the Zapi, the bristles had the same quite unpleasant odor. I put the now funky smelling toothbrush head in my Sonicare UV sanitizer afterwards to see if the smell was just a UV thing that I'd never noticed before, but no--The toothbrush head's odor was completely gone after the Sonicare cycle. Had I imagined it? I tried Zapi again... and sure enough, the odor was back. After several back and forth cycles, I realized there's something about the Zapi that is imparting a terrible smell, and I just can't bring myself to want to put a funky smelling toothbrush in my mouth--Something is definitely wrong. (Yes, I cleaned the Zapi and tried several times to see if the smell fades with use, but it doesn't.) I'm utterly disgusted, but very glad I randomly decided to sniff the brush before putting it in my mouth. I'd recommend all buyers do the same just to be safe.

Cute packaging however no longevity
This item or two a month and then a UV light died. Have tried troubleshooting to no avail. Would not buy this product again.

good and lasts.
A bit wobbly, but the UV light is reliable and did not die like most other UV lights I bought.

Took this with me to South Korea, used it to sanitize my toothbrush after rinsing it in tap water daily, apparently worked as designed!

Great toothbrush sanitizer
It seems to work as advertised. My gums seem healthier since I have been sanitizing my tooth brush.

Not very stable for my battery operated toothbrush but it will stay up if you are careful.
