Only need to use a very small amount. It is non greasy and although it seems to leave a thin, moisturising covering after applying, I haven't found it to cause staining and I don't need to use a pad or panty liner either. Just makes me feel so much more comfortable. It has a very slight herby kind of smell but hardly anything - definitely not perfumed.
