My son loves this toy!

This toy is simply amazing. The lazy swimming action of the fish is very realistic and it is not too hard to catch the fish. I actually LIKE the fact that the mouth does close every few seconds making it more challenging to catch the fish- this adds a bit of realism and also ensures the child won't be easily bored. The only drawback we have is that we have metal bathtubs so the bait sticks to the tub making it harder (but not impossible) to catch but I don't consider that a product flaw as the bait is magnetic and that is clearly expected. Just a word to the wise. It worked AWESOME in my parent's garden tub and I am confident it will be even better in a swimming pool during warm weather. My son hasn't played with a single other thing all day. When it ever does go out, I will have no problem replacing it for this price. This toy won my son's third birthday!

Yes, this pole sucks and yes, I still gave it 5 stars. The reason? The pole, quite honestly, is good enough. Once you put the lure on it will cast and it does reel and it does work. I am guessing that if you are buying this toy, you most likely want your kids to enjoy fishing or they already do. Right? If so, then you probably already have a kid pole or are going to. I have twins who are 3 and they had a blast...so that they both could play I used one of their "real" kid poles and let the other one use the one that came with it...no complaints from either. In fact, normally when things are not the same, there is a huge fight. This time however, the fish was SO entertaining that they did not care about the pool. About the fish: its swims and its mouth opens (obviously to get the magnetic lure, which is definitely strong enough). Then, when you catch it, it starts flopping around. I just received it in the mail today and it is a big hit in our kiddie pool out back. Anything that can entertain 3 year olds for over an hour straight is a winner in my book. So, if you are contemplating buying it for the "fun" factor--do it.

The rod and the fish are SOOO cute and over all quality good until you use it!!!! After one use the batteries get wet. The only way to prevent this is to take out the batteries EVERY time. When I forgot it was so wet the brand new batteries didn’t work. I had the toy replaced and the same thing happened ! Poor design!!!!! My grandson was beside himself sad. .

This is a great toy. As a first-time father, I have bought far too many toys in the last few years, always looking to find a new all-star toy that will truly make me feel like I got my money's worth. For the youngest years, it's that unavoidable Sophie the Giraffe Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether . And those crinkly fabric books. Then there's the foam blocks Edushape Educolor Building Blocks, Set of 30 , which are good for years of fun. Then Legos. Probably also include the Plasmacar PlasmaCar Blue in that category, if you have an open floorplan with tile like we do. I'd rank this fish up there with those others. My son is 2, and is fascinated by it. I have to help him maneuver the 'bait' into the fish's mouth, but he loves it every time the fish clamps down on it and starts swimming furiously. We eventually 'fight' the fish long enough that we can pull him in and let him go, at which point he starts swimming lazily around in a broad circle again. At first I thought that was a design flaw, but then realized it's brilliant - the fish will eventually come back around if you miss him the first (or fifth) time. Over the summer, we had some other kids over at various times, including an 18-month old, 4-yo, 5yo, 7yo, and 9yo. All of them thought it was fun and wanted a turn. I don't think this submersible electronic fish will last until my 2-yo is 9, but I do expect he will want me to replace it whenever it dies. And at this price, I happily will.

This seemed like the coolest toy for my 3 yr old son who wants to go fishing every second of the day. He was so excited when we opened it. Sadly he got to cast the line 2 times before the trigger to drop the line stopped working. It's not the end of the world but for the price I would have thought it to last more than the 2 cast in 2 minutes. Now I'm just hoping the fish itself holds up. I will post an update once we get some more use and see how it really does. 🤞🏼Hope it doesn't disappoint my boy even more!

If you are looking for a toy fishing pole set for your kids, this is definitely the one to buy!!! My daughter is 3 and a friend of ours had this exact set with them when we went with them for a play date. My daughter couldn't stop talking about it, so I got on Amazon and bought it that day. I was a little hesitant at first because of the cost, but this fishing set has exceeded my expectations. If you watch the video, you can see that the fish actually swims!!! My daughter likes to take a bath with it swimming around her and then afterwards, we dress her and let her "go fishing" for about 10 minutes! I can't wait until summer time when she can play with it in the pool! This set also comes with a magnetic worm and the rod and reel actually work. The only issue that we have really had is that my daughter seems to be left handed and turns the reel upside down to reel in the fish most of the time. We LOVE this fishing set and totally recommend it!

After reading the reviews on several of the best selling fishing pole toys, I got this one for our 3.5 year old daughter for Christmas. She absolutely loves it!! In fact, I've got to hide it from her or she and here 18 month old sister will fight over it. This is the only toy she's never gotten bored with--she's plays with this until we take it away everytime. Pros: the fish swims in a fairly realistic manner and only swins when it's placed in water. Once it's "hooked" by the magnetic lure, it wriggles just like a real fish until you unhook it. It's very durable -- it's been dropped several times and no issues. Clearly very waterproof electronics. Cons: as other have mentioned, the fish is very large compared to the tiny rod; this makes it hard to crank the fish in with the small reel. The fish's mouth opens and closes as it swims which makes it difficult sometimes to get the lure in the fish's mouth. At least half the time, the magnetic lure will attach to the fish's head or under the mouth which makes it wriggle, but you can't pull it out of the water. Our daughter has resorted to using her hand instead of the rod to get the lure in the fish's mouth which kind of defeats the point of having a fishing pole--they should have just left the mouth open all the time. Lastly, the fish has holes in it to allow water inside so it will sink a little; this means when you lift it out of the water, the wriggling tail slaps water everywhere (and I mean EVERYWHERE). It's best to use this toy in a bathing suit as the child will end up soaked. All this said, I still highly recommend this for young children if you want to expose them to fishing without the actual hooks, bait, and fish smells. Great bath toy--she now looks forward to bath time!! If they fix the difficulty of hooking the fish, I'd give it five stars.
