Smoked Salmon Fillet, 8-Ounce Gift Boxes (Pack of 2)

Many of the reviews of this smoked salmon are totally off-base and unfair. It seems many people don’t know the difference between hot and cold smoked salmon. If you buy this, be aware this is hot smoked salmon. It is not like the sliced, refrigerated smoked salmon you buy in the supermarket. It is a thick, flaky fillet in brine. If this is not what you want, don’t buy it and don’t review it. It is like the smoked salmon you can buy in Seattle and Vancouver airports. With respect to taste, my comparison is the smoked salmon I have bought in Vancouver and Seattle airports. I would say it is on par with those. It has a nice smoky flavor. The whole family loves it (including our dog). We use it both on bagel and for cooking (e.g., stews and pasta sauce), and for the latter it is superior to cold smoked salmon. There is not a large selection of smoked salmon available online, and those available tend to cost a fortune. This is really the only smoked salmon available online (inside and outside Amazon) at a reasonable price.

I adore smoked Alaskan salmon. I even get cravings for it, lol. This was pretty inexpensive as far as smoked salmon goes, so I decided to give it a try. I normally get Seabear. The quality of this brand is very comparable, though I still prefer Seabear to this - with Seabear, I feel like I can taste the wild, but with this, that "wild" flavor isn't nearly as intense. If you're raising an eyebrow at me right now, I don't mind, lol. I grew up with fresh seafood. I can taste anything and often tell whether it came from the ocean, a farm, a river, etc. I think the reason this taste is so different from Seabear is due to fishing in different waters. It's slight, so I'm guessing most folks won't be able to tell the difference. A real seafood fan with sensitive tastes will, though. Seabear tastes more like deep ocean; this is more mild, and I'm guessing it was caught somewhere where the salt water isn't as concentrated, like maybe the mouth of a river. Either way, it's good fish, and I wasn't able to make it last! Lol! Try it out with some black garlic spread on top, and you'll be in pure salmon heaven!

This has to be the worst smoked salmon I've ever had. It smelled overly "fishy" which tells me it was far from fresh salmon when it was smoked. It was also extremely soggy which gave it a macerated texture. Poor quality and totally disgusting. I will never again buy smoked salmon online.

I have purchased this salmon before and liked it very much (it is hard smoked salmon, not Lox). This order was different. I was very surprised to see a best by date on the outside of the box that was over 4 years from now. That seems a bit long for a food product, especially fish. But then I checked the inner pouch and it had a best by date that was 2 years earlier (see pictures). Further, the last order had an inner pouch made of foil (as indicated in the product description) but this one was in a clear plastic pouch. I have not opened the salmon and tried it yet, and it may be just fine, but the conflicting best by dates and non-standard packaging are very worrisome. Update: I contacted the company, and they were very nice. They explained that there supply issues for the foil pouches, and for some batches they used regular plastic pouches instead. They said the date on the box was an error, and that the date on the pouch inside was correct. I tried the salmon, and it was very good.

tasty product straight from the foil pouch .Even though its smoked it does not taste like its been laying around for a long time like much of the smoked Salmon you buy at the Supermarket . great flavor . Myself , I prefer to make a awesome yummy dip out of it . a little pepper , garlic and a touch of mayo smashed to dip consistency and you got a party in your mouth . Caution , try this dip while you are alone , its so damn good you may not want to share it with anyone . I bought this product a few times and it does not disappoint . It takes a little time to get it from amazon , but in this case I like that part that it is not just sitting on a shelf waiting for a sale . If you like your company around the holidays ( don't give this to people you don't like , its too good for those heathens ) make there pallets jump for joy with this fine product . And yes , just for you Mr. Miser , its a reasonable price . I'll make you this promise , if you don't like this product for any reason , return the uneaten portion to me , and I'll EAT IT !!!

I bought Alaska Smoke House Salmon product back to more than 25 years ago ,but this time I bout two package , delivered exact time one package was good but other one just couldn’t eat.

We've been ordering these fillets now for a few years, including the 2-pack options, and have never been disappointed. My wife uses them with her favorite salmon pasta recipe, as well as on bagels with cream cheese. I'm not a "seafood lover" per se, but I really like this smoked salmon. There was a minor issue with an order some time ago, but it was resolved immediately along with a nice personal note at no cost. We were first introduced to Alaska smoked salmon during an Alaska cruise 15 years ago, and this salmon definitely maintains a worthy tradition!
