Easy to use and great results
I bought this primarily for scanning slides, over a thousand of them. It's a lot easier to use than others I've had in the past, and does a good enough job with the ability to adjust color balance, brightness etc. Of course you have to remember that the final product will only be as good as the original slide. I also have loads of negatives and had originally planned to scan hard copies of those photos but when I tried a random negative scan I was truly blown away by the vibrancy and quality of both color and black and whites. I've now abandoned my initial plan and gradually working through even more negatives than slides and so far the results are uniformly excellent. And negatives take even less time than slides. No hesitation at all in giving this gadget a great score. I've had a few old pictures scanned professionally and can't now tell the difference - apart from the cost per picture that is!

Produces good quality digital images from slides
Easy to use and has allowed us to convert numerous old slides into digital images. Options are limited for image optimisation on the device but once in digital format can easily be exported to software to adjust colour etc. The digital image is obviously dependent on the original slide. Some are a little blurred but many are really good. All are considerably better quality than offered by a high street retailer. For the price I feel this was definitely worth it.

Good for casual use and backing up photos. Not good for high quality images.
The Kodak Digital Film Scanner is a great option for quickly scanning film and backing up old negatives. It’s incredibly easy to use, with a straightforward interface that makes the whole process fast and hassle-free. Setting it up is simple, and you can scan a lot of negatives in a short amount of time, which is great if you have boxes of old film to digitize. That said, while the scans are decent, they’re not quite as high quality as I would prefer. The resolution is fine for casual viewing and sharing, but if you’re looking for professional-grade detail, you might need a higher-end scanner. Still, for convenience, speed, and general film preservation, it does the job well!

Easy to use scanner
The scanner is easy to use and on the standard setting it provides sufficient resolution from 35mm slides to appear without pixelation on a 15 inch laptop screen. The colour representation is true to the original material. The preview on the screen is like using a 1980’s slide viewer allowing us to explore the family slides inherited from our late parents. The scanner so far has accepted several types of plastic slide mounts as well as the standard Kodak ones.

You get what you pay for
I have many thousands of negatives and slides to scan and get them into the digital age. I had hoped that this Kodak scanner would be just right, but unfortunately the image quality is just not quite good enough. It is really simple to set up and use, and strips of negatives are scanned very quickly. Slides take a bit longer as you have to align the slide in the holder exactly. You can rattle through films very fast. However the price paid is that the resolution is not really good enough. Unfortunately there is no alternative but to use a dedicated professional film scanner which takes a lot of time but the image quality is far greater. The old saying that you get what you pay for is true, and this little Kodak scanner would be reasonable for the images produced if it was sold at under £100, but not the price it retails for.

A good scanner - good results for the price
It works much better than I had hoped. I did a lot of research and this was the most cost effective model that balances price and performance. Recommended.

Excellent photo scanner
Excellent, I have hundreds of slides and negatives that needed to be stored digitally before the images begin to loose their transparency. Although I already had a photo scanner it was a slow and painful experience trying to scan the material. This photo scanner made it simple. It's easy to use and takes both slides and negatives. I was also able to scan 126, 110 as well as 35mil film. Very pleased with the quality of the results. The scanner can also be used to view slides and negatives. Easy to set up and use.

Good piece of kit
I bought this scanner to digitise 35mm colour negatives - this is all I have used it for, please bear this in mind when reading my review. Initially I bought a DIGITNOW scanner that was considerably cheaper - this arrived in a less than good condition and generally I was unimpressed so I returned it and decided to splash out on the Kodak. Because the Kodak must be used with a memory card it ended up costing considerably more but I am very pleased with the results and have no regrets. Having scanned hundreds of negatives, these are the plus points as I see them: > Simple to use > Produces good results > Has an excellent 5" screen - essential if you wish to vet negatives before saving (many competitors have a tiny screen) My criticisms are as follows: > Build quality is good but given the price it is surprisingly lightweight and rather plasticky > All images must be saved via a memory card - other makes will allow direct saving to a PC. In use (and having got into a routine), this was not the problem I had anticipated before hand > Whilst navigation is largely easy, when you are in gallery mode with a number of images saved then moving around the images is rather tedious Observations: > The cradle for the negatives does allow the negatives to move about - you just need to be aware of this. That said, it does mean that you can change strips with relative ease (you do not need to remove the cradle each time) > The wand supplied to clean the lens and backlight is utterly useless and I use an air duster with tube attached. It is necessary to remove the cradle then the tube can be placed in the aperture > I had problems getting the cradle in the first time, there seemed to be considerable resistance. However, guided by other users I pushed it very hard and it located; since then it has been fine > There are basic adjustments for brightness and colour and image resolution may be altered from 14M to 22M. I operate the scanner on the higher setting (22 megapixels) seeing no point in doing otherwise. In terms of brightness and colour, never once have I found it necessary to adjust these (it can be done more effectively on a computer) Other than points mentioned above there have been no issues and I would highly recommend this scanner albeit that given the price, 4 stars seems fair rating.

Definitely worth it if you have heaps of slides or film to convert to digital
Really happy with this Kodak slide n scan. It's so easy to use and it's making a very daunting task seem much more reasonable now. I have literally thousands of slides that need to be digitised and I've already done around 500 in the amount of time it was taking me to individually take a photo of around 100. Very happy with my purchase.
