For the price you can't go wrong. I bought this to use in my truck for a GMRS HT radio. SWR was over 2:0 but after trimming 1/8 inch twice, the Antenna's SWR is 1:1 to 1:2. There's no adjustment other than trimming the top of the whip.

Nice antenna which works great. We listen to police/fire/airline dispatch and railroads. Brings in transmissions at great distances. One drawback- it has a PL-259 male plug which requires an adapter to connect to connect to a standard co-axial cable.

Okay, first I want to thank everyone who answered my question about a ground plane? THANK YOU. This antenna went from "meh, it sucks" to working great with the simple application of a 5-dollar steel cookie sheet. One radio-guru-man said, "If it is a magnetic base, it's safe to assume you need a ground plane." He was right. If you buy this antenna and your going to use indoors like I do? Set the fecker on a steel baking sheet of some kind. Performance goes up drastically. I'd buy another one if I needed to.

SWR Was 1.5 on 2m and 1.8 on gmrs not bad

The weakest magnetic mount I've ever found. Won't stay on a car in the driveway; certainly won't stay on a boat going fast enough to tow a skier.

The first antenna I got did not work at all. I checked it with a multimeter and found out the antenna was not electrically connected to the cable. Turned in a claim and got a replacement faster than the first. It works perfectly. I went ahead and gave five stars because FOR THE PRICE you can expect a bad one now and then. Amazon and the seller stood behind the product. If your life depends on an antenna working 100% of the time spend more $$$.

The antenna works great, the magnet not so much. The magnet is not very strong, and the antenna gets knocked over all the time. I have it stuck to a solid steel plate.

I thought that this antenna was a waste of money, but I was very surprised. The magnet holds well, and the reception is excellent. I keep it as my emergency backup antenna on my boat.
