Ideally I wanted these to work but they kept falling out of the holes so they wouldn’t keep the shelf Maybe our holes were too fat to fit these skinny pegs

These pegs are bigger than the ones we bought at the hardware store and they cost less. They are sturdy and easy to use. My son built me some storage cabinets with sturdy heavy shelves. These pegs work great for adjustable shelves.

These work great. If the holes are tight you may need to tap them lightly with a hammer to get them all the way in. On the downside removing them may require a pair of pliers. Overall I was very satisfied with them.

These are really solid and work great. They snugly fit IKEA furniture (specifically SEKTION, probably others). 5mm is about 3/16 inch. Check yours with a drill bit to make sure it’ll fit.

It was perfect for hanging the mirror I had bought 2nd hand. We measured, screwed them in, slid the mirror into place. So easy

I found a surprise in the basement where a large 18”x 24” shelf had collapsed on its own after 9 years in place. I had crafting machines there not too heavy on this shelf. Nothing broke except the mdf side walls holding shelf up. Pegs tore the holes downward and upwards. The pegs holding those shelves are like Ikea’s; made from aluminium, pill sized and a ridge around the center. There was damage in the shelf holes, and even if I repair them they will never feel safe to place pegs in the same holes. Unless I use a resin filler and drill the holes. I sacrificed space and moved my shelf to the pegholes above. These stainless (or metal pegs from Amazon), are so much stronger and better than the ones I have. I may replace all my pegs with these or L ones. However, the actual pegs are not the issue but the fibre board that gave out surrounding them. My unit is custom built just for my craft supplies so its not an issue to repair or patch over aesthetics. Functionality is key. The shelves are weigh just on their own. I lightened the load and hope they last. I might replace certain pegs with L shapes ones for added support and peace of mind. I am thinking temperature change could also expand and contract pegs in their holes. Luckily my projector was not on the shelf when it collapsed as I had removed it days before to inspect it out of sheer dumb luck. The lense would have been crushed otherwise. Sometimes accidents happen for sparing you grief. Pegs were the last thing on my mind. I will rethink bolstering all heavier shelves now to make sure no accidents happen in the future. I think anyone who read this review should do the same. It’s the little things that can give us the biggest grief sometimes. Get these or better. Happy New Year!
