Nostalgia
Best game I’ve ever played, I made soo many memories, friends, and it just made me happy. I used to play this game everyday back in like 2019 to up until Forza horizon 5 came out, but now I stopped playing fh5 because for some reason the car audio doesn’t work for me and it suck sooo yeah. But PLEASE GET FORZ HORIZON 4. I bought me whole Xbox at first just because of this on game. Man the memories. Best $60 ever spent

Greatest racing game of all time
Okay first off, I don’t even know where to start. The game is phenomenal I’m so many aspects. First, the car supply is endless, granted I’ve only had the game for a few days, but I’ve probably played it for about 25-30 hours total so far. There is so much to do, they give you races, you can explore the auction house, unique and challenging barn finds, etc, the options truly are endless. I haven’t even scratched the multiplayer yet. I love the auction house concept and that’s a good way to earn extra credits and buy special cars I have never seen before. Next I think the horizon concept is great. The Forza Motorsport series is good, but horizon beats driving around a track.. with the endless options you can do in horizon. It actually has somewhat of a story line. The graphics in this game are insane (like I expected) but I have a 7-8 year old TV and it still looks so unbelievably stunning. The map is huge, there is so much to explore and each car can express itself in its own way from off-roading to drifting to just straight speed. the seasons are great because each car acts different in each season in a way, and forza nailed that. Lastly, if you’re teetering I’m getting this game or not, I would without question, it is 1000% WORTH IT for anyone in general but especially car fans. I’ll get into the cons below:ConsSo this stuff is probably just picky, but I’m going to say it anyway, the lighting can be weird, like it can get dim and all of the sudden light, it’s strange. And also clothing is a nice touch for your character, but its a racing game, so it’s kind of pointless in a way, but still cool and a nice way to express yourself. And I’m the auction house you can get out bid easily with no time left, so i don’t know if there is strategy there, or just people being d bags. Either way it is incredibly fun. Again I’m not sure if this is just on my end, but the game can lag a little, it might be my internet or the disc, but the game will lag on occasion and crash on me once. But that is probably my fault and not forzas. Get this game, you won’t regret it whatsoever

Could've been the best arcade racing ever
The game is great, but there are many shortcomings.Firstly, it completely fails to explain how the online mode actually works, and it also fails to let you know that the first leg of the game is a mandatory tutorial before you're allowed to race with your friends. The addition of customizable player characters is interesting but the barrage of useless cosmetic items turns the wheelspins that you get from leveling up into something of a chore. Instead of credits or a car (which are the most useful thing a standard edition owner could get) you're constantly getting rewarded cosmetic items and Fortnite-esque dance moves for the load screens that serve no purpose what so ever. Buying houses is not so much of a feature as much as it is mandatory if you want to unlock features that in previous titles you'd be able to buy simply with skill points you get as you race. The driving mechanics are on point. What isn't on point, however, is how the game coerces you into buying the VIP by jacking up the prices of the houses and certain cars. The skill trees are now attached to the car you drive as opposed to your player character, which turns them into a bit of a hassle, but you at least get enough skill points on average that you can max out your 'main' cars. The variety of cars is decent, but there's a lack of more 'normal' cars, and certain basic cars are hidden behind wheelspins like the Crown Victoria for an example. Being able to create your own circuits is great, and gives the players a chance to better utilize some parts of the map that had wasted potential. (They seriously created an offroad park and made one race that goes through it and doesn't even utilize the most fun parts of said track)There used to be a feature where if your opponent abandoned the race the game would immediately end the event and give you the full first place prize. It's since been removed from the game because players had realized they didn't need to buy VIP, simply set a "Goliath" race and have a friend DNF for them. Of course the producers were mighty annoyed by such and removed it entirely. They wanna milk the fanbase dry, just like every other game producer these days. The initial release was a mess, and as it is tradition with Forza, there's update notes saying that they've fixed bugs that are still present. In fact, a lot of times you'll either get no engine sound or the entirety of the game's sounds are at a delay, and takes a minute or two for the sound to catch up to the video.Everything that would make me love this game to death exists in there, but between the massive bias towards Ford cars (Seriously, they take up a lot of the screen at the game's shop!), the removal of certain cars that would've been perfect for this title given the wide variety of race types (No Honda Odyssey, no Cadillac Escalade, no Plymouth Fury, no 1982 Pontiac Firebird?) and deliberately hiding certain cars behind paywalls by attaching them to owning a 10 - 15 million credits house in the game, I can't give this title a 5 stars.Make it so clothes and "emotes" have to be bought from a shop, remove them from the wheelspins, do away with that cringe inducing La Gamer story mode, improve upon the track builder, and undo that sneaky nerf on the credits payout for people without VIP and I might update this.

Good, but monetization attemps galore
First as abracer the driving itself is pretty amazing. I find myself playing for hours at at time. However, as you play more and more you can see that in typical Microsoft fashion, they are secretly pushing you to pay for the cars in the game with more of your real money if you want specific cars. At first, you'll play and everything is fine, you'll think man I can buy some pretty cool cars if I win just ten races and upgrade them by winning maybe 10 to 20 more races. However the games top tier cars, the ones a lot of people want like the top end Lamborghini's, the Koenigsegg's, Bugatti's, etc cost north of 2mm a car. It'll take you all game to be able to afford those cars. Yes, you may win some extra cash with wheelspins, but this is really where the game falls flat. Most of the time, north of 80% of the time, you're winning pointless things that have nothing to do with the game and will have zero impact on your experience like emotes, yoga pants, or simply dreadful cars. Other times you may win 2000 credits, but that's few and far in between. Even more few and far in between is the winning of more than 50k. Maybe you can just sell the cars, nope. You have auction off cars to other players of the game (who don't want a Ford focus), so you're basically stuck with a garage full of garbage cars with no value. So it's painfully clear that if you want a K 1 to 1 and Chiron, you'll need to buy the car pack, which I think is 3 bucks for one or 30 bucks for like 40 or something. There are also, only a handful of meaningful races where you can win more than the 7 to 15k you'd typically win. Even that's only like 25K. There is nothing like Gran Turismo of old where you can win hundreds of thousands for some races, a super cool car (like an Indy car). Most of the coolest stuff you'll get will be through random luck on the horizon wheel spins, or you spending extra real dollars to get the coolest cars, like the ones everyone you're racing has and the ones in the advertisements. Yes, you can buy certain Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches, etc, but not the top end ones. I personally settled on a 2012 Aventador (the 2016 version seems locked behind team racing scenarios) that was good enough to get me through all of the street type races. The rub is that I wanted the centenario or something like that, which I think is 2.3 or 2.8MM. I wanted other cars, but no way in the world am I paying Microsoft again for the game, when that is clearly their motivation.
