Wish I'd known more
The only positive I can see is the ball seems to be high quality. The App is worthless. Its a great idea, terrible programming. The app is supposed to track the ball, it does a great job of tracking my sons face. It makes him so mad. It actually is extremely discouraging for him. This was a Christmas gift for him he was very excited about using it and has tried many many times. I would avoid until more research is done for the ball tracking. This could possibly be a compatibility issue with our cell phones. But I don't know. Disappointed to say the least. I will update my review if anything gets better....

Coach says Buy It!
This ball is amazing. My son is 11 and has played for years but has only recently started really getting turned on to the game. I currently coach a variety of leagues myself and grew up playing with guys like Jason Williams and Randy Moss. I only wish I could have had a tool like this ball when I was his age. I would have worn this thing out!The ball itself does not have the feel of a smart ball which is awesome! There is no clunky or weighted feel like other smart balls I have used. I actually just coached at an AAU tourney this past weekend and the gym lost their game ball. I grabbed my DribbleUp ball from my bag and threw it to the ref. They used it instead of the game ball. Everyone was asking what kind of ball it was. They liked the feel. After learning it was a Smart Ball, it was quickly dubbed āThe Device.ā The kids, refs, and others started asking for āThe Device.ā Sounded like something the Avengers would be seeking out. The kids on my team were still asking about "The Device" last night at practice. The training is great. The drills are not revolutionary but having a video showing you what to do and measuring you on your ability to do it create a competitiveness that drives you to perform better. That's key. Having the phone sitting in front of you while you train also teaches the player to keep their eyes up as they watch the screen and perform the drill at the same time. I just ordered a HDMI cable for my iphone so I can put the video on a TV screen which will make it bigger. It only takes 10+ minutes a day doing these drills and you will see a big improvement over time. When you consider the cost of a personal trainer, the ball is pretty cheap. I have buddies that charge the same cost as this ball for one hour of personal training. There are some pretty advanced drills in the app and a lot of combo routines so this will keep even a skilled player busy for quite a while. The other AAU coach I work with has commented every week on how my sonās ball handling skills have improved with every practice. He has developed those skills with the ball and has used games and practice to develop the confidence to put those skills to use.I was so intrigued by this ball that I ended talking to the guy that runs this company and they are adding new features which will make this ball even better. I am really anxious to see where they go with this program. Knowing the company is going to continue to add to the functionality is exciting considering I am already impressed. At the end of the day, itās a great tool to train with which gives you structured ball handling sessions and measurable results. As a coach, I would highly recommend this ball for any player looking to mature their skills. I am a stats guy so I firmly believe⦠āYou canāt manage what you donāt measure and what gets measured gets improved.āFirst thing on Amazon that made me want to write a review!

The having to re-pair every few minutes ruins it.
It is a quality basketball, but you have to re-pair app with ball for every drill, and the process is inconsistent. It uses visual recognition of an icon on the ball, then uses the image of the ball itself to maintain the pairing. As soon as the ball leaves the field of view of the camera, it needs to be re-paired. I understand they don't want people being able to use any basketball with their free app, but they should flip it around- a code to activate the app, and no need to pair the icon each time.

great idea, poor execution
As others have noted, the app simply doesn't work very well or very consistently: On some drills it seems to lose track of the ball bouncing right in front of it, and gives incorrect bad scores. My kid was so frustrated with getting F's when he had done a drill pretty well that he quit using the app after two days. So I ended up paying a ridiculously high price for what is now just a regular basketball.Judging by their Web site, the manufacturer has given up on this product. You'd be advised to do the same.

Great workout and WILL improve dribbling
So, I bought this for my son as a gift but used it as a work out for myself! ššI played basketball as a kid and love using this app. It has dribbling skills that I never even knew about and itās a work out that goes by quick. IāmSure I look quite funny as a grown adult mom working out with a basketball app, but donāt dog it until you give it a try!It took lots of tries to get app to read the ball correctly. The best way I ended up using is by placing it on a step stool. I still knocked the phone over a few times but this way seemed to catch the moving ball much easier! And over a couple weeks use, my dribbling improved a LOT when playing my kids one on one ;)Just donāt expect your kiddos to actually use it unless they WANT to improve their dribbling skills.

Waste of money.
Complete waste of money. Tracker barely works if at all and looses the ball constantly. Itās basically just a VERY overpriced basketball. Youād be better off buying a normal basketball and having a separate app for drill ideas if you need them.

I didn't think this would be cool. It is super cool!
1) You get a high quality basketball2) The App is actually really cool. I'm old. It is a big deal when I jump. I like to go to an old guys only rec league game or two when I have time. Following this App during commercial breaks in the Playoffs has made me a better ball handler than I've ever been. Which is really important if -- once upon a time -- you were kinda athletic and that was the only reason you could stay on the court when no one good was around. Now I can move with a basketball, inspiring new dreams of what could have been in a parallel dimension where I had hand-eye coordination, was 6 inches taller and had real athleticism.
