Product Description The Elizabethtown soundtrack features new tracks from Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham, and My Morning Jacket, who actually appear in the movie as a band called Ruckus. Other tracks featured on the album come from Elton John, the Hollies, and Wheat. Notorious rocker Ryan Adams also gets in on the action, supplying the song 'Come Pick Me' from his breakthrough Heartbreaker album. Singing the Crowe/Wilson penned song 'Same in Any Language' are newcomers I Nine. RCA. 2005. .com Director Cameron Crowe is known for paying very close attention to the soundtracks to his movies. For Elizabethtown, in which he revisits his Kentucky roots, Crowe has put together a low-key album full of gently moaning pedal-steel guitars, fretful mandolins, and men in full sensitive-balladeer mode. Whereas Almost Famous reached for the hedonistic 1970s, Elizabethtown tries to evoke a timelessly rootsy vibe through artists new (Ryan Adams, Wheat) and classic (Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham) alike. Petty, Buckingham, and Kentucky natives My Morning Jacket all contribute new tracks, while Crowe and film scorer Nancy Wilson wrote the theme song, "Same in Any Language," for I Nine to perform. But once again, it's Elton John who pulls the chestnuts from the fire. Just as his "Tiny Dancer" was the clear highlight of the Almost Famous soundtrack, an old Elton epic overshadows the rest of the Elizabethtown lineup. Culled from Sir Elton's 1971 album Tumbleweed Connection, "My Father's Gun" is the kind of superb fake-roots song that paradoxically makes the others contributors sound arch. Go figure. --Elisabeth Vincentelli More Soundtracks from Cameron Crowe Films Fast Times at Ridgemont High Say Anything Singles Jerry MaGuire Almost Famous Vanilla Sky

Cameron Crowe Entertains Again!
This was one of the best movies I'd seen in a while. It was quirky, funny, and sad and quite entertaining. Kirsten Dunst's performance was memorable. Cameron Crowe wrote and directed and I appreciate his work. The soundtrack is, as usual, amazing. I bought both soundtracks simply to have the long playlist of good music. 4 stars? Yes, this was not a classic, but a good solid, entertaining film.

A possible retraction of copyright software?
When I first found out about Sony's copyright protection software, I was furious. I own about 3000 cds and want to be completely able to do what I want with the music I own.In the past, when I have come across any copyright-protected cds that I could not digitize to put on my iPod, I would use my standalone cd-to-cd burner to make a copy. I hadn't had any problems doing that at all.I automatically did this with the Elizabethtown soundtrack, and found something odd. The first copy that I tried to make stopped the recorder at track eight, something that I had never encountered before. That was in 4x high-speed dubbing, so I tried making a copy in real time. It seemed to work fine doing that, so I put the burned disc in my computer and attempted to rip it for my iPod.To my suprise, the burned disc (again, made with a standalone burner) contained exactly the same tracks and song lengths, but absolutely no music. There was just a steady popping sound. So I decided to try ignoring the warning about the Sony software. I had actually seen it in action on one other cd, Neil Diamond's 12 songs, and expected it to act in the same way. To my suprise, however, iTunes immediately recognized the cd and allowed me to make a copy.Did Sony reissue the cd without the copyright software? If so, it's about time.

Soundtracks are awesome
I like to buy soundtracks, because of the wide range of music. Just listened to this briefly, but am already impressed by it. The movie was great and so is the music.

A wonderful soundtrack
A great collection of songs, mostly of the southern rock genre. The soundtrack may outdo the movie in this case.

Not what I expected
There was music in the movie that was not included in this soundtrack. It would have been helpful to list the tracks included instead of just saying "various" artists. I would not have purchased this had I had more information.

Check Song List Before Purchasing
Not really what I was expecting a lot of the music I remember from the movie and liked was not included. I should have done more research before purchasing.

Great Album
I have been playing this album for 10 years and I love it. Cameron Crowe may not be a great film director, but his soundtracks are excellent.
