Take off the shift knob, upper boot, unscrew the shift handle, then remove the lower boot and then dig out the foam around the factory shifter. I believe you want the shifter in neutral. Unscrew the 4 torx screws and pull the factory shifter out. Install the B&M Shifter. If you cut off the bottom "flange" part of the new foam you may be able to work it around the B&M shifter without breaking it. So nice and accurat! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review *by P***8 on 11 January 2026* 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X with 6 speed manual annd 127k miles, occasionally Popped Out of Gear (POG) in 1st. Forums recommended this B&M shifter to fix the sloppy POG issue with the old OEM shifter. The transmission otherwise shifted fine as normal. I ordered it, fast delivery, pretty straight forward installation, good detailed instructions… Best of all, it solved the sloppy gear shift and POG problem. Shifter gave me a crisp, smooth & tight shift in all 6 gears and reverse. No more popping out of 1st. Totally delighted with the quality and solution to my problem.
