Really good DVD. I like it a lot. It plays all the different regions of DVDs I have. The picture is good, at least to me. I read before purchasing that some of the buyers had an issue with the remote. I find it absolutely all right. No issues so far. And I have quite big hands. :) Installation was quick and basically, I had to connect it and it started to work. Really good item. Very good for the price. Really small. I don't find it loud. To me is quiet. Of course, when the DVD is loading, you can hear it loading, but while watching, no issues at all. So, my personal opinion about this small DVD is 5/5. Exactly what I needed.

I've now had the dvd player a couple of weeks and have so far been quite impressed. I have used the dvd function and the CD ripping function as well - although this wasn't quite as easy, it is certainly useful. The remote control needed a bit of studying initially for the CD ripping in particular but the manual was also quitelpful here. Unlike the program I use on my computer it doesn't name the tracks or album which is easy enough to remedy by connecting the USB to computer or tablet. I like the fact the USB slot is easy to access on the front (see photo). I intend using the ripping function to create playlists for my car which also has a USB slot on the sound system. Altogether for the money it is very good value and I would certainly recommend it. I intend trying to look at other formats that it will play but have not got round to it yet.

I've only had this player for a few days but my initial impression is it's pretty good value all things considered. Set up was a doddle though the miserable 1m HDMI cable was unusable due to being so short. I haven't tested all the features but have watched a couple of live concert DVDs and was pretty impressed. It does however have its faults, the above mentioned HDMI cable being way too short, also, when the unit is switched off there is a rather large bright orange 'OFF' light on the front panel....why? Why not just a tiny red LED like everyone else? The remote is a bit hit and miss, it really needs to be pointed directly at the device. My other device remotes I could stick in my ear and they would still operate whatever button was pressed. Some folk bemoan the lightness of the remote, to me it's perfect. My £400+ Marantz SACD player's remote weighs about 30g heavier and I put that down to using heavier AA batteries as opposed to skinny AAA batteries. It states you can apply for an extra 3 years warranty by scanning a QR code, well I can't do that so e-mailed the company to register but never heard anything back. I'll update this review as things go....bad or good. Update 10th June 2023: I finally got through to Electom and successfully activated my 3 year warranty which pleased me no end, that is great peace of mind. I have found that on certain DVDs the colour balance can be way off. I was watching a documentary last night and the tops of giant waves rolling onto a beach appeared to be yellow! I need to fiddle with the colour settings I think. Also, most annoying was it refused to play a brand new region free DVD (Child 44) that arrived from Amazon the other day. It happily plays the warning not to play in front of an audience 3 times then just reverts back to the Electom logo. Not at all happy with that. Update 11th June 2023. I've discovered this player has no 'Resume Play' feature as such. It will resume play but only if the machine is not switched off by which I mean if you stop a disc playing, you can get it to carry on where you left off just so long as you don't switch the device off in the meantime. This feature has to be selected from the settings menu. My other (older but much more expensive) Marantz device can be switched off for weeks and will carry on playing as soon as it's switched on just so long as the disc hasn't been removed. So with this device, rather than leave it in pause mode while you answer the door/make your supper/visit the loo, you can stop the disc but don't switch it off if you wish to pick up where you left off.

I liked the compact size of the item and the fact that setting it up, in this case using HDMI cables was easy and trouble free. During my first time using it, a brand new dvd straight out of the box and never previously played before, there were two separate incidents when it appeared to have a short and very weak glitch during the film. Although only short in duration both the sound and picture froze and appeared to be out of sync between picture and sound. This only lasted maybe5 seconds with a gap of an hour between the first and second incident. Although the DVD itself was brand new, in all fairness it may have been a little dust on the lazer which may now correct tiself.

I have only had this DVD player for a couple of days, but I am very impressed with it so far. I can now play some DVDs that I have from Australia, which I cannot play on my PC or ordinary DVD player. The picture quality is good, it is very easy to set up and use, and it takes up very little space. The menu function works better than the one on my old Panasonic DVD player (which I still have connected, because this new one takes up so little room). This is a very handy product and at a very reasonable price.

Within 10 minutes of plugging this in I applied to return it. It was at the post office within an hour of then. It doesn't work other than to make my skin creep with the scratching sound. It actually sounded like it was doing an old fashioned dial up connection weee screeetch chug chug scrrritch. It won't recognise multiple DVD's that do work and the noise it makes is hideous so if it worked you couldn't watch anything on it for the noise. It scritches, screeches and chugs away to itself before returning an error message. Most media appliances are soundless now so this was a horrible surprise. We didn't get to watch a DVD, but if it kept up the way it was when searching for a DVD you couldn't watch one while monitoring a sick child. It'd destroy any immersion and wake the child up or give them nightmares about something digging through the wall after them. Both are possible. This was supposed to be a multi region DVD but what arrived had nothing about using the DVD in the manual, let alone did you need to change between regions to get it to work written anywhere. Not that we were trying a non UK DVD. The buttons on the machine are really primitive and clunky, the tray is really flimsy so I don't think it could used for long before coming off and it takes a lot of pushing of the buttons before it decided to act. Then there's the remote, the buttons are a bit erratic in their workings. Furthermore none of the universal symbols are there, it's text only instead the back, forward, rewind and fast forward symbols people are used to. You should not have to hunt down the main function buttons amongst a lot of (pointless) secondary and tertiary buttons. Who thinks hiding these buttons are a good idea? They've been in the central section with icons for easy access for decades. The set up menu, which is of little help is really poor resolution and the picture constantly shakes on the screen. Finally it'll make you feel old and stupid before your time. A DVD player should immediately offer you your DVD's options to watch, rather than sit there and offer you a horribly shaking screen with terrible resolution which made our eyes hurt. The DVD player it's replacing is a decade old and the picture is much sharper than this, faster, more modern looking and quieter. AVOID. We cannot understand how it got so many 5 star reviews.

I am totally delighted with the dvd player. I was having problems with my "old" (!) player. It then stopped working with one of my favourite discs inside. The new player arrived promptly. Excellent! It is very simple to install: Excellent! It is up to date with tech (most of which I do not understand - yet! But the options are there!) Excellent! There id a paper instruction manual. Excellent! The remote control is Excellent! There is the option of a largd-button remote control. Excellent. Picture and sound: Excellent! Oh! Value for money? Most certainly Excellent value! It's a small, cheap and nasty little plastic box and the remote feels pretty crummy too. You have to hold the unit still when using the buttons on the front as it has no weight to it. The remote happens to be on the same frequency as my led Christmas lights so when I use certain buttons my Christmas tree flashes or changes colour or turns off 🤔 Despite all this it's an okay dvd player that let's me watch the countless films not available through streaming services.

Heel blij met deze dvd speler: ik heb een aantal series die regio 1 zijn... en dan is een europese dvd speler niet wat je nodig hebt. Ik heb deze dvd speler nu 1 jaar en ben er nog steeds erg blij mee. Mooie kwaliteit, afstandsbediening werkt, overzichtelijk ding. Zoek je een goede en niet al te dure regiovrije dvd speler; dan is deze een aanrader UPDATE REVIEW 2026: in 2022 gekocht en nog steeds werkt de dvd speler goed en zonder problemen. AANRADER

Super lecteur DVD

This was the easiest installment ever although I first read the instructions and felt a bit daunted before getting started. In the end, it basically installed itself and works like a charm. I gave the remote control only 4 stars because I was so intent on viewing the American DVD that I did not dare do anything once it began playing. I will revisit using the remote other than turning off and on when I have time to be focused. For the price you simply cannot go wrong. The one minus is that it was delivered in the same box from the manufacturer, meaning that it was not packaged for mailing. I count myself fortunate that nothing was broken.
