Delightful and interesting book
I love this author and anything he has written. These are short biographical-type stories of some great men of God from the past. It's good to pick up and read a chapter and then go back to it later. It always challlenges me to look at the lives of historical greats from the past.

Highly Recommended!!
I've never really enjoyed biographies very much until a month or two ago I received a copy of Iain H. Murray's John MacArthur: Servant of the Word and Flock . I read it in just a few days and I loved it. That led me on to some of Murray's other biographies.I was given this volume for my birthday, and I am almost finished. It's a very great read. Murray doesn't just write "this person did this, then this, and then this happened," etc. He discusses and interacts with a lot of their thoughts and writings and actions, and he appears to be very well-read with the subjects writings. I've often found myself reading this book with a pen or a highlighter - something I've never done with any other biography.Heroes contains brief biographies of 9 people:1. Jonathan Edwards2. George Whitfield3. John Newton4. Thomas Charles5. William Hepburn Hewitson & Robert Reid Kalley6. Charles and Mary Colcock Jones7. Charles Spurgeon. Most of the biographies are around 40-50 pages. You'll find Murray's style to be very easy and enjoyable to read.

Very Inspirational
I am still reading this book. A wonderful book to encourage every Christian. And if you are not a Christian, you will still admire the people mentioned in this book.

Read it and weep!
Iain Murray is one of my favorites, so that may bias my judgments. This book has a blend of well-known and virtually unknown (at least by me) great people of the Christian faith. What a great encouragement the story of these lives is to me. They struggled for years--decades--against many obstacles and through faith, perseverance, and the power of Almighty God, they succeeded beyond all their hopes. Read it and weep!

I Love it
The book is excellent! In a day and age when the Biblical teaching most hear, this brings you a closer look of God as Hehas revealed Himself in Scripture and the great men of God that follow Him.
