first time a benzoyl peroxide product worked for me
I've had acne for over a decade. Most benzoyl peroxide products that I've bought from the store have dried and flaked off my face within minutes, being completely ineffective. This is the first product I've used that properly absorbs and has an effect on it. For once in my life, my acne is actually clearing consistently. This product may be called a lotion but it does NOT moisturize or soften your skin. It's not for that. Lotion is more of a texture description. It is a very light gel-ish texture that quickly absorbs into the skin. The only word of warning is that you should not let it get too close to your eyes. If it gets too close to your lower eyelid, it can be irritating to that thinner skin. If you find that this product irritates your face as a whole, you can try leaving it on for 10 minutes and then rinsing your face. Because most of benzoyl peroxide effect happens within the first 10 minutes anyways for most of these products. But I have no problem with it and don't rinse it off.

Amazing Lotion. Doesn't overdry and gets the job done.
I bought this because I was sick of buying three piece sets just to use the lotion out of them. I have had moderate acne in my late 20's and have recently started reading more into what causes my problems. I would often have cystic acne which was painful and unsightly. After learning that I was likely washing my face too much (only twice a day) which was causing my dry skin and then over production of oils, I decided to make a change to my regime. I started slowly shifting into not washing my face and rather just rinsing it in the shower breifly in the morning and before going to bed at night. At the same time I shifted to only using Benzoyl Peroxide lotion for my Acne prevention along with cetaphil lotion for when my face was really dry. After buying set after set after set of 3 piece combos I decided it was time to research into buying just the lotion which is kindof hard to find for some reason. Anyways I came upon this lotion and read some good reviews and pulled the trigger on it and haven't looked back. The lotion is 2.5% compared with the 10% I was using and I have to say the results are outstanding (my face isn't dried out and it feels "normal") After using this for around 3-4 weeks I no longer get cystic acne, my face isn't dried out, my eyebrows aren't bleached (bad experience with Target 3 piece kit), and I finally am no longer embarrassed to go out in public. One of the best parts about switching my regime was that I no longer feel like I need to wash my face throughout the day as my face is no longer oily. The lotion itself goes on smooth and absorbed within a half a minute after applying. I don't normally go out of my way to write a review but I was reluctant to buy this because I wasn't sure of what results I would get and I was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Song's is the real deal, I highly recommend this product as I will be a repeat customer for sure.

Super Simple, Super Cheap, Super Effective
I bought this product about 10 months ago to treat my two-year-old's molescum (her dermatologist recommended a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide solution). I chose this over the tiny tube from Neutrogena because you could get this huge bottle for nearly the same price. This product was pretty effective in getting rid of the molescum, and I still had a ton left over, so I decided to use it when I ran out of my own benzoyl peroxide treatment (I use it for acne on my face and body). I was and am really pleased with the results. I'm well researched in effective acne treatments as well as skin care regimens that are scientifically proven vs. hyped by the cosmetic and skincare industry. The only proven effective acne treatment regimen is: 1. Cleanse (really any gentle cleanser will do. it does not need to contain any active ingredients...that's just hype. it all gets rinsed off your face) 2. Exfoliate (with a pore-penetrating, BHA exfoliant, such as salicylic acid. NOT a physical scrub exfoliant) 3. Apply antibacterial agent, such as benzoyl peroxide, to the entire face / effected area (not spot treating) This is the "magic" of any three step acne regimen like Proactive and Acne.org, which for some reason I see a lot of references to in the negative reviews for this product. As far as Dr. Song goes, this product is super simple. It's just the antibacterial agent in a good acne regimen, and it doesn't have any inflamming ingredients. It worked really well for me to reduce breakouts on both my face and body *when used in the regimen described above.* And it didn't cause any inflammation. I have extremely sensitive, middle-aged acne-prone skin...occasional cystic acne, which this product was also effective in preventing. And it's an ENORMOUS bottle that lasts forever. My first bottle is 10 months old, and I've probably got a quarter bottle left, and it's still working. I don't know the shelf life for Benzoyl Peroxide, but I'd guess it's at least one year if it's properly stored. I tend to use products until they stop being effective and don't pay attention to expiration dates anyway.

Decent gel, terrible bottle
This product has worked very well to clear up small blemishes without drying out my skin. The gel is a nice consistency but does leave white streaks on the skin if not spread thinly enough. The pump breaks within a few days of use, having to open the bottle can get messy. When the bottle is mostly empty the pump is useless, you'll have to open the bottle and scrape around to extract those last couple weeks worth of gel. As of writing this review they have changed the pump on the bottles, I will update this review as to their quality after a few weeks of use or until it breaks. Pros: - Works well to treat acne - Does not dry out sensitive skin - Reasonable price and amount Cons: - Terrible (old) pump - Gel streaks when drying - Large amount of gel left in the bottle

Happy that this product is available
I have been using this product like for about a month and I have been pleased so far. I had to deal with terrible cystic acne during my early twenties and had to take Accutane. My face was free of acne during 2 to 3 years but recently I have been dealing with pimples in specific areas on my face (chin and forehead) but they can't be compared to the cystic acne I had years ago. So I started to try acne products from local stores. At first they disappeared my pimples quickly but then they lost their efficacy. I decided to find other remedies online until I found out about the regime from acne.org. I wanted to buy their products from their website but had issues with their checkout process that did not got resolved (seems that they don't ship to my country)until I found an alternative on amazon which is this product from Dr. Song. I cannot compare it to Acne.org Benzoyl Peroxide because I have never tried it but I like it so much better than other brands from local stores. What I like the most is that it dries very quickly after putting it on my face and doesn't leave a white residue or leaves my skin flaky. I can wear makeup on top of it. I do use a moisturizer after letting it dry. I use Cetaphil products to clean and moisturizer but I am looking for other natural/organic products with less harmful ingredients. I use this product twice a day (morning and night). I cannot say this is a miracle product that is going to make my acne disappear forever. The type of acne I have to deal with is related to hormones, stress and diet so acne is something that is not going to go away at this point of my life but I think this product disappears my pimples quicker and keeps my face under control. I do take natural supplements such as Zinc and Omega-3 Fish Oil once in a while and I am thinking of taking a little bit of Vitamin B5 during those days of the month. Also green tea can be helpful. It's good to to treat your body from the inside and out but also take those supplements properly. I suggest you to buy this product and follow the regimen from Acne.org I think this product is worth it for the price and quality. I hope it stays available for a long time.

Great stuff!
I was tricked into thinking that the only good part about getting older is that you don't have to deal with acne anymore. But here I am with acne in my 30s. Micronized benzoyl peroxide seems to be the only treatment that works. This product comes in a very large bottle. Works just as good as the Neutrogena 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, which is what I used to use all the time. This bottle is significantly bigger and more cost-effective. I have very sensitive skin and this stuff works great for me! I plan on buying it again, but the bottle is so large, I probably won't have to buy another one for a long time.

Acne free after all these years!
I have suffered with acne all my life (pimples, zits, blackheads, whiteheads; you name it, I had it on my face). I bought so many products over time and nothing ever seemed to work. So when I bought this, I really wanted it to work, but I wasn't really holding my breath for a miracle. When it arrived, I washed my face, dried it, and then applied this gel...it burned like hell. It made me want to scratch my face off. But I figured I would bear with it and left it on. On the 3rd day, I noticed my blackheads seemed closer to the surface, but figured it was just my imagination. Still, I continued with the treatment. A couple days later, the blackheads were literally on the surface of my skin, rolling right out of their pore pockets. My whiteheads had disappeared, leaving behind baby smooth skin behind in places that I never even thought possible. And my pimples had all dried up! It was a miracle if I had ever seen one! The only downside is that it burns like hell when I use it. It doesn't make my face LOOK irritated, it just FEELS irritating, and makes you feel like scratching it off. But it's gotten better recently, so I think it just takes a while for your face to get used to it if you have sensitive skin. Also, it's very drying, so I switched up my routine a bit: 1. Apply Ponds cucumber cold cream cleanser on dry skin and massage in with S & T Lil' scrubbies 2. Rinse and dry face 3. Apply Dr Song Benzoyl Peroxide and allow to dry 4. Follow up with Ponds dry skin moisturizer. Now I'm just waiting for the acne scars on my cheeks to go away (spots of discoloration). My forehead, nose, and chin are now free of scars and the skin tone is even, since I haven't had a single pimple, blackhead, whitehead, etc on those locations since starting the treatment. I noticed my cheeks would get a flare up whenever it was that time of the month. So although I usually only apply this stuff once a day throughout most of the month, I switch to applying benzoyl peroxide TWICE a day whenever I'm on my period, and that keeps my face acne free. The directions say you can apply it as little as every other day (if you're sensitive and need time to adjust or ease into it; I just went straight for the once a day treatment and toughed it out until my face got used to it) or as much as 3 times a day. So play around with it and see whatever works for you.

No More Acne and No More Dry Skin - for awhile
Update about 7 months in: This stuff really worked at first, but after about 4 or 5 months I grew a tolerance to it. I use it mainly for scalp acne that keeps breaking out everyday. It really helped at first and cleared me up for the longest time, but the acne started to reappear and this benzoyl peroxide gel doesn't have the same effectiveness as it once had. It especially doesn't work on cystic acne, the gel doesn't penetrate deep enough to get to the infection. What does help is clindamycin liquid solution, but that requires a dermatologist prescription and lots of doctor and pharmacy visits which are a pain, and potentially expensive. I need to look for another product that can tackle my scalp acne problem. This gel still works a little bit, but it isn't clearing me up immediately as it once did, and I still breakout almost daily. The big tube of gel is really nice because I can apply a ton of it all over the problem areas on my scalp that keep breaking out. But it's no use if it stops working. Does anyone have a solution for adult scalp acne breakouts?
