Needed to put a lot of work into it.... here is the real deal review.
I've been playing and recording music since 1984, I currently write commercially licensed music under BMI Inc as a registered songwriter/composer. I just received this black acoustic guitar, and there is certain things that I want you to know. The Good:This is a full size dreadnought body style acoustic guitar, and I am surprised that a painted acoustic guitar like this with lindenwood / basswood would not be really be mid to high range in over all tonality.. not at all.. this guitar has a nice bass sound to it, like it should. And that is the main reason for the "three stars"There is not any major cosmetic defects. The Bad:Every new guitar, acoustic or electric needs a basic setup, that is expected and as venerable as I am, I have setup a myriad of instruments that I play over the years. The problem, is this guitar seems to be a new version as I did not receive a "huntington" brand as some reviews have posted prior, but "braun" brand of guitar, that may be the reason that my review dIffers from others in the past.It took me two hours to level the 4th fret that was causing buzzing as it was just a bit high (and no, it was not a truss rod adjustment or saddle adjustment). The strings actually were so light, and cheap that two of them snapped. Before putting new ones one I conditioned the stained (Not painted) fretboard with some music nomad f-one oil. After that and new strings, and adjusting the truss rod now.. the guitar plays great. One tip, this guitar has plastic bridge (Not wood). Put masking tape around bridge pins sticky side up, under the head of each pin to make the diameter wider and to prevent them from poping free, and they will do that when you replace the strings. So the conclusion:Can I use this in regards to writing and music? Yes.Can I use this out live? Sure if I use a soundhole or piezo pickup.. or a good microphone. This was a bit beyond a normal setup, and the even though it is an inexpensive guitar I would not have to do more then a simple setup. One of the Amazon reps gave me back certain percentage back for a partial refund. In the end, the vendor / seller needs to have better quality control on what they are selling.

Outstanding Performance from a Beginner's Guitar
This acoustic guitar delivers sound quality rivalling that of some guitars produced by higher-end manufacturers. With deep, clean bass notes, and crisp-sounding high notes, this guitar is perfect for beginners, intermediates, and experts alike. If I had to recommend a low-price guitar to anyone, this would be my first choice. The body of the guitar is smooth and well-built, with a sharp finish to accentuate the grain of the wood. The neck of the product is sturdy and well-attached to the body. The bars of the fretboard are an attractive flat chrome colour, accented nicely by the stain of the fretboard's wood. The tuning mechanisms hold their positions well, and usually tune fairly easily. The strings that the guitar ships with deliver decent sound, although I would suggest ordering a cheap set of replacement strings to use instead. But, like all great products, this guitar certainly has some weak points. For example, the tuning mechanisms occasionally encounter resistance not caused by the strings, and the bolt used to adjust the truss rod on the unit I received was obscured by a thin layer of wood splinters, which I had to remove to locate the bolt. In addition, while the strings delivered decent sound, several of the strings snapped during light playing, but I doubt this is a chronic problem with the product. To close, I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a guitar costing less than a hundred dollars or so. The few problems I encountered with this product are easily remedied and can be overlooked by many beginner guitarists.

This is a Crap shoot, you may get a good sounding cheap instrument or a piece of junk
Ok I had written too much stuff and had to take a break. I am a retired public school teacher and I have a passion for making sure that beginning music students get the best instrument possible; I am not sure this it that situation. I will try to be as fair as I can.The guitar that you receive may be worse that the one that I received. After all the company is called "Directly Cheap". The guitar arrived on time, as promised. It had no invoice, no return information, I guess amazon will take it back if needed. The neck was straight. It tunes, but we'll see how long it hold the pitch. The fingerboard is probably made with Douglas fir; but it is straight. The "nut", the white thing at the top of the neck, underneath the strings fell out when I loosened the strings. It was supposed to be glued in place. The tuners are what I expected, true to the company "Cheap" but then again you could pay half to the actual cost of this instrument for a set of tuners. The guitar plays will in first position and is reasonable for bar chords. For the price it is ok- it should have come with the promised pick (3 cent) and at least a cheap case (their cost $2.00). It plays and maybe if "Eric Clapton" played a song on it, you might think it sounds great; don't get your hopes too high. A new set of strings would definitely help. Be sure to keep it humidified as if it gets to dry it WILL fall apart. Don't let it get damp either or it WILL warp. Don't even think of any upgrade being made to this instrument- use it when it breaks throw it away, or use it as a ornament in you home. If you can spare an additional $100.00 don't make this purchase for $160.00 bucks you could do much better. If I didn't have a choice and this was the best that can be done - I would purchase. Keep in mind that there is no telling whether you will get a worse guitar than this one. It is always best to play the instrument before you purchase. Guitars are like spouses, make the right choice and its heaven. Make the wrong choice and no matter what you do, it going to be hell.
