Ergodyne unisex adult Hi-vis Ranger Sun Hat, Lime, Large-X-Large US

After having knee replacement surgery, my PT and doctor suggested switching from a two-wheel bike to a recumbent. I followed their advice and purchase one with two wheels front, one back. My bike riding friends encouraged me to purchase clothing which will allow me to be seen, as opposed to the all black I usually wore. I began looking for a brightly colored sun hat. I need a wide brim hat to keep the sun out of my eyes. Perusing through options, I settled on this sun hat in orange. I love this hat. It fits just right. I like the adjustability of the draw-string chin strap. It really works well to keep my hat in place on windy days. It breathes so doesn't make my head hot on hot days. The brim is just the right coverage to keep the sun out of my eyes. Most important to me: I am being "seen." One gentleman told me he had seen my hat from a half-mile back. A couple told me they had seen it for a long time before catching up with me. Another gentleman said my hat was really noticeable. It is well-made and durable. I highly recommend this hat.

The small/medium will fit almost anyone, unless they have a 1960s beehive hairdo or fro. This is actually the second time I bought these. Last year I bought one to use kayakfishing so powerboats see me and don't run over me, and for sun protection. The grey stripe is HIGHLY reflective at night like reflective tape. Now I bought an extra to keep in the car in case of flat tires. I wear it all the time. Whenever I wear it shopping, high School age boys and girls all want one. Keeps the sun off my face and neck while fishing, gardening etc, and the top part is vented mesh. so it's cooler than many hats. I used to wear straw hats, but they sometimes blew off my head and across the lake. The retention chin strap on these has a button to lock or release the adjusted tightness, a fantastic feature on windy days. I now have 5 Orange ones, my high school aged niece borrowed my yellow one and won't give it back, that's HER hat now. Funniest thing, I'm old and have a grey beard, but high school kids want to wear what I have ... I wear them for sun protection and safety mostly, but I'll admit, they do look good on a person too. I can't recall EVER getting compliments on a hat, but this one gets a lot of compliments from all ages. Not only do the high school kids like it, ladies in their 20s to 50s say they like it, so I'm having to exercise more speed walking to escape all the women wanting to flirt with me (just kidding, but I suspect the high school girls and boys want them because you do get noticed instead of just blending in with a crowd) I originally loaned the yellow one to my niece at a festival so I could spot her easily if we got separated in the crowd (which we did when she met up with some of her freinds) When I wear one to her high school concerts or plays, people all come up asking where to get one. Actually, I bought 4 this time, One for car, one for fishing, one for gardening, one to get borrowed....Apparently buying 2 last time wasn't enough)

Very nice hat but running small

I am a sailor who likes to sail long distances (e.g. 1200nm+) offshore in the ocean. I bought this "ranger" or "boony" hat to protect my face and ears and neck from sunburn. I have an extra large head (24.5" circ), and sometimes even "Extra Large" hats will not fit me well (or are too tight). This hat comes in XXL and I bought that size. I am very glad that this seller/brand (Ergodyne) has made this XXL hat (as few hats are made that size). I hope Ergodyne will continue to produce hats this large, as I think that is a competitive advantage as other sellers do not. I compared this hat to many others that look similar, and this one came in the needed XXL size. Others don't. I am very happy to say it fits very nicely, without any tightness. In fact, I like it so much I am going to order another one to have in case I lose this one. If I had a regular crew working for me, I would buy each person one of these. The high visibility yellow/lime color is very bright and is also good for sailors. The hat has two different reflective materials that really do work very well. The wide reflective band or ribbon on the hat crown is very good retroreflective material. In addition the hat has a narrow reflective trim that goes around the outside of the brim. Together these are very good at reflecting lights such as headlights of cars or spotlights or flashlights. This does provide a good sense of added safety visibility at night. The fabric used is lightweight, and the hat has a vented crown. I have worn this hat for many days in the hot sun and never felt "hot" under the hat. The hat comes with a very nice and long "stampede strap" or "wind strap" or "cord keeper" with a sliding adjustment button that works well. When sailing, I snug this down and can face the wind without fear of the hat blowing off my head. The brim is wide enough to provide good protection fo my ears and nose and face when under high sun. It also provides some sun protection for my neck. The hat material is light weight, so this hat can be easily rolled up or folded up and stuck in a pocket when not needed. But, because it is light weight, it is hardly noticeable when worn. I highly recommend this hat as a very good value, with outstanding features and functionality for sun protection and high visibility. By the way, I have not received any compensation or discount for writing this review. I simply like this hat very much, and consider it an excellent product, with outstanding value if you need sun protection and a larger size had for wear outdoors. If you are a sailor, hiker, walker, yard worker, field worker, farmer, or anyone who works outside and wants better all around (wide brim) sun protection in a light weight hat that is comfortable and easy to wear, this is a good solution.

I have a normal sized head and l/xl fits me great. I notice a lot of people, maybe most men nowadays have enormous hog heads and if that’s you then the l/xl won’t fit. I like that it blocks the sun. It is lightweight and cool. Ideal for flagging traffic type of work. Good visibility.

I’m a regular hiker and we often go through national forest areas where hunters are allowed, so I bought these hi-vis hats for myself and my hiking partner. They’re extremely lightweight, fold up small, and fit easily into any backpack without taking up room. The brim has a nice sturdiness to it, and the hat holds its shape well even after being packed. There isn’t really an adjustment feature, but the size ranges listed are accurate and they have a bit of stretch, so make sure to choose the right size from the product listing. The hat has just enough wind resistance while still allowing airflow, which keeps it comfortable on long hikes. For the price, you honestly can’t beat it, and it makes me feel much safer when hiking in areas where hunters may be nearby.

This is perfect for those who work outside. Good light and very bright hat. Keeps the sun off you and material is breathable.

I love bright colors and this is really bright!! It's comfortable and not hot on my head. That is a plus! It fits well, too, not too big or small. I have two concerns. The first one is that there are air holes in the vertical side walls of the top part. I am concerned that sunlight will come in and I'll get a sunburn on my scalp. The main reasonI bought the hat was for sun protection. We'll have to see if that is a concern as I've only worn it once and it was late day sun. The second concern is the brim. It's kind of floppy and I wish it was a little stiffer. However, I paid about $10 for the hat so compared to some of the more expensive ones at $30 and up, I don't feel too badly.

Brilliant. Since buying this hat, no one has run my head over. People see me from hundreds of feet away. Keeps the sun off. Very comfortable , breathable fabric. The chin strap lives inside the hat if you don't want dangly bits getting in the way. ( which is what i do) very stylish, and bright. I wear it at work, I should warn readers that some people find it hilarious.. Wearing it definitely cheers people up. I get the feeling that it makes them feel.. superior in some way. Which in turn makes me laugh because they are obviously idiots. And .. I'm the one not being run over by vehicles.. !

Good. Keeps sun off neck and face pretty well and is good visibility. The price is low.
