Works Pretty Well For My Circumstances
I live in a house with two 80 year olds who aren't ready for the A/C to be turned on even though June is already starting to heat up in my area of the country. Like most two story houses, the upstairs is always a few degrees warmer than the downstairs. Being the upstairs occupant, it's always a tug of war to get the A/C turned on when I need it turned on. Decided to try to find something get me through the in between stage. This little machine is the perfect solution. It's great as just a fan, lots of air flow even on the lowest setting, but with the filter and a tank full of ice water, it's almost too good. It will not cool the entire room but with it about 2-3 feet away, it's pumping out some refreshing cool air. Yes, the air flow is cut down with the filter in place but on the highest setting, it's more than enough for me. If I had one complaint, and it's a mild one and one that kind of goes with the territory, the water tank will sweat with ice water. That's it. The only complaint. I'm considering getting a couple more for other rooms in the upstairs that tend to heat up in the summer even with the A/C going. Update 6/7/21: Been using this for a little over a week and I'm still amazed at how well it works. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars. A few tips: 1. Freeze the filter once it's wet. I put it in the freezer overnight and it's ready to go when I need it. 2. Get the Amazon Basics square 4.75x4.75 ice packs. They fit perfectly in the water tank and don't make it sweat as much as ice does. There's 4 in the pack I got. As I write this, I've had this unit running for the last 8 hours, have only changed the ice pack once, and it hasn't stopped putting out cold air. And I mean cold - almost air conditioner cold. If I had a way of measuring the temperature, I would. It's 2 or 3 feet away from me and it's almost too cold.

It does not work for a whole room.
I am returning this. I tried it out several times. The room was humid and warm. It was cooler when I opened the window and used a fan. It was also cooler when I opened the door and went out into the hallway.

Faulty water plug
Ordered 2 of these units. One works ok. The other is total junk. First the water would go from the tank to the filter area like its supposed to. Then ALL the water went from the tank to the filter area and spilled all over the floor. I had to remove the tank and just use it as a fan. Not worth $50 for the little fan. Super disappointed because I compared many units before deciding on this one that I thought was the best. The principle at work with the air blowing across the cool water inside the unit has a minimal effect on cooling the air anyway. Better off just buying a fan.

This is actually a swamp cooler.
It is not intended to cool an entire room. It works when you are fairly close to it but it does cool more than a fan would. I am using it now and it keeps me cool. All you have to do is plug it into a usb outlet, fill the reservoir with water and turn it on.

Works great when you are right next to it
It works great! Keep in mind it is not like an air conditioner in your house. It is portable and needs to be close to you.it is like a swamp cooler. I put ice with a bit of water in it. The air blew out cold when I put my hand and face next to it. If you are counting on it to cool a small room donโt get it. But in an area where you are unable to have ac and you are sitting right next to it, it is relieving to have cool air blowing on you. I had this and a mini usb fan and I slept very well on a few very hot nights during a recent heat wave. One thing though, be careful when moving it it as the water spills out very easily when tilted even slightly. Note worthy: I pull the filter out after each use to dry it out, to prevent mold from growing as mold loves dark damp enclosed conditions. Overall itโs a great little unit and I would highly recommend it.

Just a low powered swamp cooler
This is just a very low powered swamp cooler. They use these in Arizona for houses, only bigger. This thing is basically a low powered fan that blows mildly cooler air at you. A regular fan, that can blow harder would be better. This thing makes no difference in cooling, as I suspext most other mini coolers do. Gave it a chance based on the . I am thinking now, faked reviews. It is not worth the money. Even filled it with ice. No difference at all. Dont buy.

Disappointing. Ineffective.
Failed to cool even a very small room. Only two "speed settings", little and less. Very disappointing. Being returned.

The best "personal cooler" that I've tried
This is the fourth "personal cooler" that I've tried, and this one works the best of the four. I think most of the negative reviews come from people who expect it to perform like an actual air conditioner. It is not, it is a small swamp cooler and does a good job for a small area, but won't cool down an entire room. I have it sitting on my desk in my office and it works great. A swamp cooler works by evaporating water, which cools the airs. For a swamp cooler to work well, the "cooling pad" or "filter" needs to be saturated by water. The air needs to pass through the filter, which evaporates the water, and cools the air. This filter does a great job at soaking up the water, while still allowing air to flow through it. Other personal coolers that I've used have filters with large spaces between them. They have done very little cooling.
