Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C, Pure, 1.3 Liter

I have used this product on thousands of board feet of wood. I will never use another finish again. It is very durable and you can spot repair it. It goes on fast and it's really hard to screw up. I have used it on Ash flooring, a custom cherry staircase, a white oak countertop, butternut table top, custom cherry kitchen, lots of cherry trim. The spot repair claim is also absolutely true, if you need to fix an area you can sand and reapply, it will blend perfectly aside from any natural aging of the wood that you sanded off - which will even out in a few months. The people complaining about water spots did not give the product the 1 week (with hardener) to cure. It is a low/no gloss finish, the main thing you need to know going into it. I have noticed from using a buffer to apply on the flooring, the buffer itself does add a level of sheen that you will not get if you apply it with a rag.

Used this on a maple desk with a spalted sycamore open hutch. It will streak where you pour it, so spread like a fein! No instant headache- pleasant scent, so you can soon present items to customer with no worries. Wasn’t really thrilled at first with the yellowish hue it added to the creamy, spalted sycamore; but client loved all of the pieces, so... Oh, you really need two coats- difference is worth it. First pic = raw sycamore; 2nd = raw sycamore one coat Rubio on desk; 3rd = one coat Rubio on hutch; 4th = up-close on Rubio on sycamore ; 5th = 2 coats on maple didn’t change its color as dramatically.. The difference in color from 1 to 4 is significant. (a custom design from Industrial Elegance)

By far the best wood finish I've ever used for furniture. Coated a 10' long 100year old oak table I built and had a ton left over. Spreads easily and comes off pretty easily. I buffed the first coat with a white scrub pad on a DA polisher and then put on a second coat. It left a silky smooth satin finish (not glossy) that looks incredible. This stuff also smells amazing to work with. This will be my go to finishing product from now on.

Good product. Frustrating packaging. I ordered this 1.3L size twice within 2 weeks (big project and needed extra) and the first shipment arrived with the B component / accelerator in 3 separate 100 ml plastic bottles with a screw on cap. This is a MAJOR improvement over the squatty 300 ml can that it used to come in that was always impossible to get 100% usage out of and would leave way too much oxygen in the container once it became halfway used and beyond. I was thrilled to have the screw top bottles in smaller sizes arrive...only to be disappointed again with receiving the most recent shipment (2 weeks after the one described above) that is back to the blasted 300 ml can. I always transfer the A component into a stop loss bag completely before actually using it as I have learned that leaving it in the can and opening / closing it for any length of time over using results in the top layer of the product skimming over / chunking up and becoming unusable and wasted. This is unacceptable for a product that's so expensive and a little goes a long way. Thankfully stop loss bags work perfectly for the part A component. The B component is too viscous for that and I would please please please recommend to Rubio to change your packaging to reflect what I've outlined above. I have spent thousands on Rubio over the years and this is really the main and only issue I have with it.
