Two-step Protein Treatment for Damaged Hair 4 Fl Oz

I had extremely damaged hair after going from dyed black to brown, (my hair is naturally dark brown, straight, fine and about 50% gray). After color removal and several bleach treatments my hair was like straw, would not hold color at all, and my only option appeared to cut it all off. After reading about Aphogee Two-step treatment, I felt like this was my last option (before cutting off the damage!) I had already tried many conditioning treatments with no improvement including K-pak, coconut oil overnight, etc. First, I read up on the application process, as well as all the reviews I could find. I then applied the Aphogee Two-Step with a spray bottle, it is messy and starts hardening in about 5 minutes, so I saturated my hair and then loosely piled it on top on my head, blow dried for 50 minutes until it was hard and seemed as dry as it would get. Per suggestions from previous reviewers, I reclined in the tub to allow my hardened hair to soften and then showered and rinsed for several minutes. I applied Biolage conditioning balm to my hair for about 5 minutes and rinsed. I added some Its-a-10 and some Fekkai glossing cream. Okay, so after all of this, my hair still looked bad, it was less dry and somewhat healthier looking, but it was not a miracle or dramatic improvement. I hoped that after coloring it would improve. I waited 24 hours and colored with a non-permanent color, conditioned with Biolage for about 5 minutes, rinsed, towel dried & applied Its-a-10 & fekkai glossing cream. Wow! My hair looked good, it felt soft and held the color.It's been two weeks now and the color still looks great! There has been a huge improvement and I am very happy that I will not need to cut off all my hair. Some tips: Apply with a spray bottle. Plan beforehand where you will place your hair to ensure that it will completely dry, you cannot move it AT ALL once it dries as it may break off! Wear gloves, the product is sticky and a bit irritating to the skin. I used a hand dryer and it worked great, just plan at least 30 minutes of straight blow drying. Before using, read all the reviews, I found this very helpful. I don't plan on using it again at this time, but if I do, you need to wait 6 weeks between treatments. Make sure to condition afterwards with a non-protein condition. Only use this if your hair is extremely damaged, it is not for healthy hair. Thanks!

After damaging my hair quite badly earlier this year, I was experiencing a lot of breakage and generally unhealthy looking hair. After a lot of research, I found many people recommending this (along with the Balancing Moisturiser). Apparently it’s an ‘OG’ in the natural hair community! I bought them separately as the the moisturiser bottle is significantly smaller in the kit, and I have A LOT of hair (less than before though). I wouldn’t say it is difficult to use, but you do have to follow the instructions to the letter: Wash your hair, apply generously on clean damp hair, allow to dry (preferably blow dry) until rock hard. DO NOT TOUCH OR MANIPULATE AT THIS STAGE! Rinse out thoroughly and follow with the Balancing Moisturiser. Application is messy, the solution is sticky, and it will get everywhere, but all of the pros outweigh the cons. My hair, which has never experienced breakage, was breaking off every time I brushed or washed it. After this treatment, I have had ZERO breakage whatsoever. It is extremely effective, one just has to be aware of balancing protein and moisture in their routine. I’ve used this twice, about 8 weeks apart, and will continue at the same interval until the bottle is finished. I may repurchase if necessary, or I may downgrade to a less intensive treatment like the Aphogee Hair Strengthening 2-pack, or the 2-min Keratin Reconstructor. Highly highly recommend for damaged, breaking hair.

Listen. My hair was out here crackling like a Dorito. Overprocessed, overbleached, overcooked by a stylist who swore she “knew what she was doing.” Lies. This stuff? A literal resurrection in a bottle. I thought I was going bald. I thought the only thing left to do was apologize to my scalp and start over. But ApHogee said “not on my watch.” Smells wild (like a science experiment), feels stiff while it's working, but trust the process. My hair came back from the dead stronger, shinier, and with attitude. Like it knew it had survived a war. 10/10. Would recommend to anyone whose hair is holding on by a prayer and a scrunchie.

TL;DR Its not a miracle cure all but it Works. Its gonna take a couple uses. Used for over bleached damaged hair. If you have dyed semi permanent hair (i use arctic fox) your color WILL bleed, pretty easy to use. DEEP CONDITION AFTER. Okay so, I'm a constant at home bleach/dyer and my hair can usually take it but after chunks and clumps of hair started falling out I knew I needed strength ASAP. I had used a smaller packet of this the last time this situation happened and it helped so I came back for a whole bottle. The instructions are simple to follow, so I don't understand the negative reviews. I HAD 3a/3b hair...now I have super bleach, and heat damaged hair (flat iron). Like literal straw, no movement..I used the aphogee shampoo for damaged hair, and then I applied this treatment throughout my damp hair, wide combed it through and used a hair dryer until the product dried in. I used a different deep conditioning mask after. IF YOU USE SEMI PERMANENT COLOR THIS WILL MAKE YOUR COLOR BLEED. As I was applying the product my color was all over my hands. I could already see my curl pattern coming back as the product was drying into my hair. This isn't a miracle overnight one use product. But it does work, and give my hair strength and helps it hold onto moisture much better. And my hair is slowly getting into better shape.

I do like it, I just can't comb it through my hair like your supposed to because I have alot of hair but it's fine and tangles extremely easy. So I end up just squeezing the solution all through my hair. I probably waste alot doing it that way plus I don't want to get it in my scalp because I have psoriasis and it burns so I hang my head over the sink when applying.

Good treatment . My hair felt so much smoother afterwords. Does dry out hair so be sure to moisturize hair very well after the treatment.

I've been using this product since 2009 (relaxed and natural hair) and it is the only thing that has assisted in my hair's growth retention. Some of these reviews will deter you from purchasing but let me reassure you: you NEED this if your hair is dry, brittle, damaged, and/or chemically processed. Yes it can be messy; yes the smell is pungent; yes the formula has changed; yes it does work! Only use once every 8-12 weeks. A lot of y'all have been using the product incorrectly.....and it shows. Here is how I yield the best results. 1. Use a clarifying shampoo (1x maybe 2x) prior to product application - the product will be more effective on DEEPLY cleansed hair. 2. Wear a shirt that you do not mind ruining - the solution is a LIQUID and will get everywhere. *You can put the product in an applicator bottle for easier distribution directly on hair* 3. Start at the back of neck and work forward; work in small sections and apply directly to hair. DO NOT USE clips or rubber bands. 4. Saturate the hair from root to tip. 5. Allow the solution to harden and dry completely - sit under the dryer or use a blow dryer. Do not exceed 25 minutes. 6. Rinse hair with warm water until product is completely rinsed out. 7. Apply a moisture mask or any moisturizing (PROTEIN FREE) deep conditioner. Sit under the dryer (20 mins) or just wrap hair in a towel (40 mins). For the love of any and everything that is holy, DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP. You just stripped your hair and will NEED to put moisture back into the hair. 8. Rinse conditioner out with cool water and use a leave in conditioner if necessary. 9. Be aware of any protein (hydrolyzed, plant, silk amino, collagen, keratin) that may be present other hair products as you do not want protein overload. 10. Enjoy results!

I first found out about this stuff after attempting to bleach several year's worth of black dye out of my naturally blonde hair (no one who knows what they're talking about will ever recommend that you try this, myself included). I had managed to get it to yellow-blonde but I'd gone too fast, managed to burn a lot of my hair off with chemicals (bleaching should be done every few weeks at most, not twice in one week (never again)) and what remained was in a state of near-breakage. I didn't even touch it for fear of it all falling off like some poorly plotted after school special about the horrors of alternative hair color. After Aphogee, my hair didn't magically turn into long glistening silky locks of awesome but I'd have to be totally naive to expect that level of transformation. Here's what happened: it stopped breaking off when I brushed and/or styled it, it was strong enough to feel like real hair again (as opposed to like spiderwebs) and it looked okay while I grew it into something less off-putting than my chemical pixie cut. The only major fault that I can think of is that it's supposed to be "FOR PROFESSIONAL SALON USE ONLY" (says this right on the bottle), so a lot of people are probably using it when they don't need it. This is something that a stylist would use if you have severely damaged hair. And they'd use a deep conditioner afterward, that part is really essential. If your hair feels like melty cotton candy when it's wet, use this. If you can grab a thick section of your hair, then pull on the last inch or so and it breaks off in your hands clean across, use this. If your hair has been bleached white and won't hold hair color at all, use this. If your hair's a little dry and could stand to be in better shape... just get a deep conditioner 'cause this will likely do more harm than good. Note: I don't care what this is made out of. It could be 100% pure crushed-up baby unicorns and I'd still recommend it because it WORKS.

Let me start by saying that this product helped me through a terrible hair crisis. Due to a chemical reaction, my hair turned to gum and I lost 3/4 of my long, beautiful hair:( I wish I'd known about this before my catastrophe. After I found this, it changed my hair texture back from gum to normal, strong hair. I will say that it did not change the texture, so it didn't help with frizz but it definitely rebonded the rest of my gummy hair. I now skip the 2nd step and use my own extreme moisture product, because step 2 stinks WAY too much and it's more like a conditioner. The process is weird. You wash, them apply, dry it, and then rinse and condition. I find it very sticky while I'm using it but I now use it every 6 weeks or so to maintain the integrity of my hair. I lost my hair almost 6 months ago and since I started to use this, I haven't lost anymore.

I HAD to write this review: I had 4C hair texture, then I got a keratin treatment a month ago and my hair is likely a 4B with defined rift curls. However the last two weeks my hair began to shed drastically! A friend of a friend told me about this product. Expensive but willing to give it a try! I used liquid keratin shampoo then applied the treatment as instructed on the bottle. Note it’s really liquidy so next time I’ll likely put it in a spray bottle. Also it very sticky when drying and smells. I used it prior to taking a shower and I stayed in the washroom during the drying time. Highly recommended! Once I rinsed it, i then used liquid keratin conditioner to condition my hair for 15 mins. Towel dried my hair and used the Aphogee keratin spray and oil mayonnaise leave in treatment. Then I Blow dried my hair with an ion brush dryer! Love it! I applied a few drops of sweet almond oil and straightened with L’Oréal steam pod. Two days as of today and my hair has STOPPED shedding! Yes it was a combination of all but I must say using a protein treatment once a month or biweekly is VERY important to maintain healthy, strong hair! Also the main reason I used keratin based shampoo and conditioner was to maintain my keratin treatment.
