This would not be considered a dishwasher safe finish as it is water resistant, not waterproof, and the harsh chemicals can actually dissolve the cured finish after time. Wash with mild, natural soap and warm water. **Q: Can you apply indoors? Looking for a protective finish for our wood table. Will need to apply it indoors & there are kids at home. Any toxic smell?** A: This stuff is none-toxic, zero VOC's, 100% food safe, and no heavy metal driers. It smells like a cooking oil and is a simple to use. Absolutely it can be applied indoors and safe around children. It is wonderful stuff for all the above reasons but won't give you a hard table top finish like varnish or polyurethane finishes. Will this work overtop of an existing possible minwax satin type finish?** A: I would sand off the existing satin finish before applying the Tried and True. I don't want a permanent odor in the room** A: Not only does it dissipate quickly, it's very pleasant when it is apparent. I am such a fan of this oil finish that I love smelling it, so I re-do my banisters periodically to keep them smelling new. I've never had anyone comment on an odor/frangrance, so I don't believe it's because I've gotten used to it. All in all, an excellent choice: I'd highly recommend Tried and True's Danish Oil. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Make Finishing Enjoyable Again *by M***H on 19 February 2020* To preface this: I buy a lot of stuff on Amazon and have never been moved to write a product review before. Finishing used to be my least favorite part of woodworking. You have to don gloves, put on your respirator, make sure the dust in the shop has settled, have a well-ventilated area, blah blah blah. It's uncomfortable. It's dirty; the more projects I complete the more I worry about my cumulative exposure to all the toxic volatile compounds in finishes like polyurethane and other "danish oils." It stinks. Not so with this product. No gloves, no respirator, no worries. I can finish small projects at my kitchen table without worrying about stinking up the house or exposing anyone to harsh chemicals. I don't have to burn through multiple pairs of rubber gloves to get a wipe on finish. I've finished two projects with it now and it's easy to apply (directions on the can are spot on), it makes the wood look beautiful, smells good, and cleanup is the easiest of any finish I've used except mineral oil. The smell is like a nutty cooking oil. Time will tell how durable it is, but I would still use poly (or maybe try T&T's varnish oil) for high-traffic items like table tops. If I do have to reapply sometime down the road, that's fine by me. In fact, I would enjoy it. It seems expensive but you get what you pay for here. A little goes a looooong way; this is 100% oil unlike Watco Danish oil. I would pay more just for the experience I get from using it versus poly or even Watco.
