Solidly built of metal and work well
I like shooting inexpensive 3rd party manual focus prime lenses on my Canon APS-C cameras (many have a uniqueness to their images) but many of them do not come with any form of a lens hood, nor do they offer any optional hood and there is no way to attach a hood other than via the filter threads. I have purchased a few of these Fotasy (and similar ones from other brands) metal screw-on lens hoods and they work very well. The metal construction is solid and well made, with the attaching threads cut clean and with well defined threads and go on smoothly. The only problem I have found is they do tend to loosen periodically so you gave to check them with a little snugging twist before use to ensure theyโre tight. I guess if youโre overly concerned about it, a micro dot of blue (temporary type) thread lock at one spot would be just enough to keep the hood from backing off the threads. Not a big deal for me, checking the fit when mounting the lens is just something I make a habit of doing knowing they do loosen. The hood comes with a larger sized lens cap as the one that came with the lens is too small since the lens hood front opening is a size or 2 larger than the threaded attachment point. This hood was for a 35mm f1.4 lens with 52mm lens filter threads and came with a 58mm lens cap. The inside of the hood is burnished to help prevent reflections and has another set of threads at the front edge should you want to attach a filter. The hood provides decent shading from stray light to help prevent ghosting and flaring as lens hoods are intended to do. One issue that you should be aware of is the hood is NOT reversible like some OEM ones are. They screw-on and stay on unless youโre wanting to conserve space where youโll have to decide ON or OFF for storage. I leave mine ON all the time as they arenโt like some massive ones that come with larger zoom lenses. Overall, I find these metal lens hoods to be well worth their inexpensive cost and they perform very well.

Good product
Another good product from Fotasy. Hood was well made, solid, and it fits well.

Does the job perfectly
Not much to say here since it's basically just a metal tube, but it seems to be well built. I bought it to keep glare off my Pentax 35mm F/2.4 lens, which it does well. No vignetting has been noticed. It screws on to the front of the lens and then the lens cap goes over it. Beware though, as the lens cap you'll need is NOT 49mm - the threads on the end are I think 58mm (but I don't have it in front of me as I write this, so I'm not 100% certain). It's nice that you can put filters on the end of this - can't do that with a tulip petal lens hood! That said, I don't currently have a filter on it, which is unusual for me. I typically put a UV filter on all my lenses mostly for protection. But in this case, the hood itself offers some protection, so it doesn't seem quite as important to put on a protective filter. For the moment at least I'll leave it that way because every piece of glass you add degrades the image quality. Anyway, it's a very useful accessory. Not that I care, but it's worth mentioning how ironic it is that some of the best lenses (wider primes) make your camera (and you) look like a weenie because they are small. :-) If you care about such things, this tube will make your lens/camera look more substantial and cool!

It's a lens hood
It does what it says. Gives it shade, reduces lens flare if you're not going for that JJ Abrams look. The hood is aluminium so it clanks around in your camera bag, but you sound cool and professional when running and gunning with a 15 year old camera. And above else it makes the camera look cool and more bulky. But sometimes I run a polarizer or a ND filter so you have to stack the lens hood on top of the filters which doesnt make the most stable platform in the world. But it does the job. If you're starting out, or dont really care about gear and want results. This lens hood works. Remember, your artistic eye makes the photograph... not your gear.

Good for pancake
I put this on a 1:1.8/50mm Nikon "pancake" lens, Series E, as both anti-glare and to protect against hard knocks. The metal threads are machined accurately, with no manufacturing burrs or defects, nor any tolerance issues that would cause irregular fit as you screw or unscrew it to the lens. Highly recommended.

good fit
just got it and I can tell right away - it is a good fit for my 62 mm 18-200 telephoto lens - you should know it cuts the corners at full wide angle, but by 35mm it is OK, full frame. Comes with a pre fit lens cap, which is a big plus, you can just mount the pair to start and you are good to go!

A Perfect Companion to a 77mm Filter Sized Lens
I love this 77mm lens hood from Fotasy. The matte finish perfectly matches most lenses. It easily screws onto any lens with a 77mm filter. Because it flares outward to an 82 mm diameter, you can used this hood on wide angle lenses and wide angle zooms. You won't get any vignetting. Great product at a bargain price.

Three items work together wellโthe hood, the cap and the string
I bought both 55-mm (for Contax RTS) and 49-mm lens hoods (for Pentax KM) and this review is written for Pentax camera. The solid metal hood (0.6 oz) fits my vintage 50-mm manual prime lens well (filter size 49-mm) and the center pinch cap (0.4 oz) sits on the hood nicely due to the cap-receiving groove inside the front end of the hood. The original lens cap can be stored away as long as the hood and the hood cap stay on the camera. The cap does not allow the light coming through the lens so that it helps certain vintage manual cameras (e.g. Pentax KM camera) to prevent the camera battery drainage issue that occurs when the cap is not on. The black string (12 inches or longer depending on the hood size) that came with the cap is for keeping the hood cap to be attached to the camera strap ring so that we donโt lose it when it is taken off the hood. The way I use it is as follows (see the pictures): (1) Fold the string into a loop shape and tie the two loose ends first. (2) Pass the loop end through the cap hole situated at one side of the cap margin starting from the front side of the hole and pass the tied end through it... (3) Likewise, pass the tied end through the camera strap ring on the body and pull it further out to make a loop large enough to receive the cap through it. By doing so, when the string is not needed it can be easily freed from the cap or the strap ring by reversing the looping action.

Stylish
Itโs great. Adds a stylish look to the lens

Excellent
Quality materials, matte black inside to prevent reflections, 49mm white text is on the bottom part of the hood so you don't see it when using it. It's thick enough that it shouldn't bend.
