Rawhide: Season 5, Vol. 1

I remembered this from when I was a kid. Now watching it gives me a better understanding. This is a "Western" but the stories go way beyond just entertainment. It gives us lessons in: morality; loyalty and humanity. The opening song is very memorable as is a very young Clint Eastwood. But the characters are what matters.The stereotype of a "Cowboy" is debunked. Mr. Favor shows how a man should be. The stories include:Respect for other cultures.Appreciation of {some} women as strong; brave and better than a lot of men.Ability to learn and put aside bigotryand much more.All of this long before it was hip and cool to appreciate minorities; women and respect of others. This is all about the good part of being civilized without hammering it in our heads. If people absorb the lessons we would not need to be lecturing each other on justice and equal rights. It is all in the stories.

Rawhide was really great to watch! We learned a lot about cattle drives and what life was like back in the Old Western. This is just one more great Western series from the late 50's!

Rawhide was absolutely one of my favorite shows as a child. Unlike most, who found Rowdy Yates the favorite, MY favorite was always Gil Favor. Gil Favor was the main reason I watched Rawhide as a child and things haven't changed as an adult. He was tough but fair...and like in most every western I watched, was a man of high moral character that was not afraid to defend what was right! I can never get enough of heeead-em up...move em out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to have the 5th season after watching the first 4 seasons, I was hooked! Clint Eastwood and Eric Fleming was the best actors of their day. The were honest, hard working men that were always looking out for each other.

this is one that i traded for another movie because i thought that i allready had a copy, i thought that i brought double season 4 and fiv covers looked a lot a like.

bought this for my parents to enjoy... they like Clint Eastwood in this classic western. The volume goes up and down like a yo yo on this, unfortunately, my mother remarked "I may never watch that disc again-the sound was so poor, some segments are so soft you can hardly hear it." My parents are NOT hard of hearing!

Rawhide a real jewel, and at a GREAT price

I'd say, it is the best series of all time. I have seen the first 4 & last 8th seasons, & have never seen a bad episode. Fun seeing all those actors who went on to be big movie stars. Especially James Coburn with Clint Eastwood. They went on to do the Paint your wagon musical, which won an academy or something.Plan to see all of them. head em up move em out.
