I'm looking for a tension rod that's best for hanging wet laundry. How much weight can this hold? Or, any other tension rod recommendations? Thanks!

I don't know what all these people are talking about.  Why wouldn't a tension rod hold wet clothes?  What are these, soaking wet super-absorbent clothes for giants?  We used a tension rod to dry clothes in our shower in a tiny apartment, and it worked well until the tension rod eventually broke.  It didn't break from holding clothes.  It broke from being twisted the wrong way.What's gonna happen if someone puts wet clothes on it?  Do you imagine the rod snapping in half?  Will it bend into a weird shape so that it can't hold tension?  Exactly why do you all say a tension rod can't do this task?  It's a tension rod - designed for holding the weight of a heavy plastic and heavy cloth curtain.  If it can do that, it can hold it's length in wet clothes.

I use this in my small shower to hang hand washed clothing so the dripping will go down the shower drain. I also use it to hang things I don't want to put in a dryer. And, I use it when I don't have a dryer accessible. So, I probably put 8-12 wet garments in there at a time, and that sometimes includes jeans, but mostly it would include shirts and pajama pants, shorts, socks, etc. I put space between the garments so there is air circulation, and this might approximate having dry garments hung close together. I have had no slipping or falling or sagging of this rod which is used exclusively high up in my shower for hanging wet clothes to dry. We also hang wet towels on it, both on hangers and just draping the towels over it. I wouldn't hang ten pair of wet jeans on it, but when a few pair of jeans are hung alongside several light wet garments, it has done well. I'm considering buying another and using rod supports to span a distance in the bathroom so I can hang clothes I've worn and would like to have the wrinkles steamed out in the bathroom and don't want to iron or put back in the closet because they've been worn once. If this is long enough, I'll use it or I'll look for a longer version of it. The price has doubled since I got mine, but it's still worth it. I would rather have a rod up than a clothing rack because a rod will allow me to clear it and have all the floor space below free in a the bathroom and the one in the shower is just high up above our heads halfway between the wall and the shower curtain. While it doesn't say it can be used for a closet, it is pretty strong and I think it's fine for hanging clothes if you don't overdo it as many people do. I think if you hang them loosely and they are not all heavy items like jackets and jeans, you'll be fine. If you want it for super heavy duty closet duty for hanging suits and winter coats and lots of other heavy things, I'd get a heavy closet rod. I got this because I thought it wouldn't rust in the shower, it said it could hold thirty pounds so I figured it would hold wet laundry that I could fit with space between each item for drying, I didn't have to install hardware on the tile shower walls, and it was well rated. I'm happy with it. Also, I wanted something I could take with me when I move so I could use it again. For example, it could be used in the bottom of a coat closet to hang ladies shoes with high heels--the ones you wear a lot but take off the minute you get in the door. It can also be used with those rings that have clips on them--for hanging curtains--in a shower or closet to hold small items--gloves, scarves, hats, etc. So, I felt it was a good choice for use in a rental for my purposes and something that could be used well after I move possibly.
