why is the red DASH popcorn maker, more expensive than the aqua or white ones?

Can you plug popper and microwave safely in a shared powerstrip?

NO--at least, you have to remember to not use both at the same time. You are also risking fire (or hidden damage that can cause a future fire) if you use 2 heat-producing appliances in the same outlet (they need to take turns). If you doubt this, do an internet search. I learned about this when my microwave & coffeemaker's shared outlet started to smoke!
