Kurgo Surf n' Turf Life Jacket, Chili Red, Medium

This product fit our 75 pound chocolate lab great. We used it when going on the paddleboard and when he fell off in drop water was able to swim and float easily. We were also able to use the nice handles to pull him back on. The product is of high-quality and very adjustable. Seems like it would fit many dog sizes, love it.

I did research ahead of time and measured both dogs. This life jacket fit perfectly to the measurements. We got small for our short but stocky 23 lb. mutt who has a long short body shape like a corgi, but short hair. We had tried a different brand on him first but the stomach of the other one covered his boy part, we were worried about chaffing, this one did not, it was perfect. We got medium for our 50 lb. Catahoula, who is the size of a cow dog or smaller Lab. Neither dog seemed to mind wearing them. They feel and look high quality so I think they will last a long time. Important features are the hole for the leash to come through on back of neck and the handle on the back. The handle was very important as we were able to hold on to them as we crossed strong currents in the river or came to parts that were too deep for them. We could grab them to keep them safe. Look forward to getting the dogs in the water more often.

My rottweiler Diamond is 9 months old and we live at the lake, she has swam for many months but NEVER confidently and never jumped in excited by choice, I always had to lure her in with food and she would walk out on her own or dog paddle back to the swim deck if we were on the boat, she never looked happy. NOW SHE LOVES SWIMMING! This vest gave her the largest confidence boost ever, she cannot WAIT to go to the lake and play fetch or just swim for fun/to cool off. I say lake and she wags her little rottweiler stub and bolts for the door, this puts the biggest smile on my face when I see how much she loves it. We visit the lake 2-3 times a week and over the course of 2 months the vest has just began to show signs of minor wear around the stitched edges. I have stopped using the handle, as I'm worried it's going to rip off sooner or later. PROS --- Vibrant Color Works outstanding short term Highly Adjustable True fit compared to size chart Handles for helping lift dog out of the water (if your on a swim deck of a boat or in a pool) Clasp for leash that seems to hold up (though my dog doesn't pull much on leash) Velcro AND buckle around neck for EXTRA adjustability (which was a life safer in my case) CONS --- Red Nylon fabric begins to pull apart at the seems on the handles Loops which the bottom two straps go through are spot stitched and not well supported (cheapest part of vest) ripped during first use *** Note these loops are the ONLY thing keeping the straps on the vest and not against your dogs belly/chest which would be uncomfortable! I fixed by restitching and now it's fine. SO, If you have a young dog whom you want to build confidence by using a vest "just for now" then this will do the trick. If however you are looking for a long term (or life time) solution for your pets swimming needs, go spend more money to get the best one you can.

We really like this life jacket. It’s easy to put on and take off and we love the handle on top. It’s easy to adjust the size. It makes it easy to grab a hold of the puppy when we are in the boat. We looked at a lot of life jackets and this is the one we are sold on. Very good quality and the puppy doesn’t mind wearing it at all.

Used a size small the other day at the beach on my 25ish pound four month old puppy. My puppy really didn’t get in the water in order for me to review its ability to keep him afloat, but I can tell that it would not impede his swimming ability and it would provide any needed floatation. It is very durable yet lightweight and comfortable enough for him to exercise needed mobility while playing with other dogs. I’m pretty sure he didn’t even notice he had it on. The fit is great. I like the D ring and the handle. I was able to lift him as needed and leash him to the check cord easily. The value for money was also excellent (Prime deal). He will eventually get to be about 35 pounds and I’m thinking this may still fit him if I loosen up the straps.

I reviewed a lot of dog life vests. I wanted to avoid those with a lot of Velcro which would entrap my dog’s hair. This vest is well constructed. I like the two handles on the back (one vertical and one horizontal) which gives you options to grab and pull your dog out of the water. The underside of the vest consists of foam padding on each side which are secured by 2 straps and buckles. On my dog, the two foam sides don’t meet in the center under her belly, but there’s still plenty of buoyant support. The best part is no Velcro, and it’s easy to put on with the two buckles. There’s a band that goes over the head and supports the front of the neck/chest. It is adjustable too. Check out my pictures to get a better idea of how it works. A good choice for a dog life vest! Finally, I just wanted to add that the highly rated Ruffwear life vest is VERY similar but it's double the price, and it has a very small piece of velcro that is used to secure the underside straps, which could irritate your dog (not likely though). I personally think that the Kurgo is a much better value.

We bought this for the younger of our two German Shepherd dogs, who is about 1 1/2 years old and about 90 lbs. Our older dog is a great swimmer and loves to swim, but leaves our younger guy back in the shallow end because he's still not sure about how good of a swimmer he is naturally. With the jacket on, he was able to calm down a bit and actually just swim like a dog should and we didn't have to worry about him panicking and getting himself into trouble in the water. We were able to calm him down in the water and he started to realize he was able to swim and float just fine with his jacket on. One thing to note, is that you will probably need to adjust it a couple of times after the straps get wet the first time and get a little bit of stretch to them to keep it snug on your pup. Once you get it adjusted, it looks like it is pretty comfortable, our dog was wearing it for a few hours out at the lake and never seemed to be uncomfortable swimming or running on the beach. It's now sitting in the garage and every morning he goes up to it sniffing and wanting to go back out swimming!

Finally a life jacket that fits. Anyone who is a bulldog parent knows, it's hard to find clothing items/jackets that fit due to their big necks. While this may be a little long in the back (pictures attached to this review) the important measurements for us were neck and chest. This jacket is adjustable in all the right spots, making finding the right fit a breeze. I like that this jacket also doubles as a rain coat. Simply unzip back zipper to remove flotation insert, and you got a jacket. Can add different inserts for extra warmth too. Bright in color, with light reflective piping for added visibility too. I purchased this as used-like new from Amazon Warehouse, so a return that was resold, at half the price as new. Definitely worth it. Now Bungle can go swimming with us with confidence.

My dog suffers from wobblers disease and I was advised by my get to start swimming her. The only problem was she couldn't swim as her back legs weren't strong enough so we bought this life jacket and it's amazing. It keeps her very buoyant with a handle if she gets into trouble. . I'm so glad I bought this for her and yes, she's starting to use her back legs now. I would highly recommend this site to everyone
