Since everything is Velcro its easier to go smaller than it would be to make them looser, if that makes sense. Compared to the others I've wasted my $$ on, this one is of really great quality. The velcro & straps tighten well. I have seen improvement w/ my shape, as I use to look pregnant. The customer service is excellent, she ensured they fit & let me know i could get a free refund. I had to exchsnge my M for a L & it was quick and easy.
